Hi can someone explain to me the difference between the Fasteners And Fastners Assy features?

And also how do I get the holes to move with the fasteners feature?

Her you can see I moved the bolts but the holes did not update with the move.

Thank you

I haven't used these features because I tend to stick to the non ICMECH version of fasteners. But I did just look at them both for a second and one seems to be individual components (a singular fastener) and the other seems to be a full fastener assembly (Fastener Assembly). As far as the holes moving with the bolts, I do know of a way to do this, but I don't think it is a good practice so I will have someone else chime in on that one.

Hi hEINSTEIN,

about the automatic shift of the hole when you move an IPROFastener:

This behavior is controlled by this option:

image.png.ee37ef74d2a30bc790fef516b0142f67.png

When this option is active, the hole are automatically moved when the

associated IPROFastener is moved.

If you want to move the IPROFastener without to update the hole position,

keep the Shift key pressed during the translation with the TriBall.

If the option is disabled, you can update the automatic holes associated to an

IPROFastener using selecting the assemblies that contains the IPROFasteners

and dropping this tool in the Scene:

image.png.6511bba7b8dd6c70a27fdce990840869.png

If you drop it with the left mouse button the new holes are done in the

new position of the IPROFastener, if you drop the tool with the right mouse

button, the holes are moved in the new position.

Of course these functionalities work on holes associated to an existing

IPROFastener. This mean that if you have deleted the IPROFastener that

has automatically created an hole, the hole will not be moved using

this tool.

I hope this make sense to you

Regards

M

Hi There,

I am also having trouble with the fastener tool, specifically...

1) The default settings are not saving correctly, and forgets to put a 2mm clearance hole around the fasteners (see video 1)

2) There were no Australian standard fasteners by default, so I have spent many hours to develop fastener.dat files  (see attached), however I cannot load the AS/NZS standard into the standards dropdown. (see video 2)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi ATurner,

here are the answer about your questions:

1) The Settings save only informations about the fasteners. Informations about holes are not saved inside the Settings file.

2) The information about holes are stored in the generical LastUsedValues and are get every time you start the tool.

In the FastenerAssembly there is a bug and these values are not get correctly (it's get only the first hole).

We are working to fix this.

In the Fastener tool, this is working fine.

3) At the moment it's not possible to manage a "Customer" folders for fasteners. This is only possible for Steels.

We try to implement this in future versions.

I hope this make sense to you.

Have a nice day

M
