Creating Parametrics Versus Intelligent Attachments
Typically in traditional CAD design, when you want to build parts/assemblies that move and size together you would use parameters and constraints. This is a strong capability but can become time consuming especially if you have interchangeable parts or configurable parts. In IRONCAD, there are other methods to achieve a similar approach that can save time and can be used for multiple parts without having to recreate constraints each time a different part is used.

Learn about Structured Part Design!
Did you see the new structure part example tutorials on IronCAD.Academy? These videos are a great tutorial to learn about IronCAD’s different design capabilities. For users that are familiar traditional CAD systems, structured part mode can offer a familiar user experience, with the benefit of having IronCAD’s other industry leading features. On top of this flexibility, IronCAD can cover those cases where you may want to use multiple bodies and more of a rigid approach to your part design. This is just another way IronCAD offers users the choice how to design each part based on your design needs (and not forced one way or another). Check out the tutorial for an example.

Andy Robinson Race Cars Becomes Far More Competitive with the Help of IronCAD
Back in the early 1990s, we saw the end of the Cold War that brought an end to decades of political uncertainty and unrest.

For Andy Robinson, a hard-working engineer with a young family to support, it also brought to an end his promising career as a design engineer with Marconi, one of the UK’s’ leading defense contractors. In a heartbeat, Andy took the brave decision to take his long-standing hobby of drag racing and to turn it into a business that would go on to support him and his family. Operating from little more than a shed at the end of their garden, Andy started up his own business, designing and building race car chassis.

Successfully Producing Spacecraft Concept Designs with IronCAD
When Mark Hempsell resigned from the Board of Reaction Engines to start his own company as a vehicle for consultancy, part-time teaching, and, most importantly, to focus on his own projects in 2013, he had one primary goal: to advance and expand the horizons of spacecraft systems engineering.

With over 40 years in astronautics, Mark Hempsell founded Hempsell Astronautics to provide consultancy services on astronautical systems engineering and to contribute to astronautical engineering projects. The company can draw on a wide range of experience in all kinds of space systems and has all the tools necessary for design and analysis at the concept and feasibility stage. The company’s specialized expertise is applying systems engineering processes to space projects.

Space System Designs

In order to maintain agile and competitive advantages with larger aerospace companies, Hempsell Astronautics is faced with the challenge of producing and presenting concept work that matches the output of large system houses.

To deliver to that expectation, they needed to have CAD design systems that overcome that challenge.

Discover a Better Way to Design Assemblies with Flexible 3D CAD Tools
Effective product design involves a wide range of tasks that demand flexibility in your software. 3D CAD modeling offers several advantages over traditional 2D design. Still, you want 3D CAD tools that you can use every day while being powerful enough to handle all the aspects of your design process.

With traditional CAD design systems, which create assemblies out of separate part files, it becomes nearly impossible to make any fundamental changes to a CAD assembly structure without also modifying constituent part files, re-linking to the assembly file, and then re-mating parts within the assembly.

With IronCAD, you get an intuitive 3D CAD system with a flexible design structure that combines ease-of-use with powerful modeling capabilities to handle your most complex design projects. IronCAD accelerates your design, saving you time and development costs, and making you more productive.

IronCAD Presents CAD Award at 2020 K-12 InVenture at Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech‘s K-12 InVenture Prize was held on March 11, 2020, featuring teams of student inventions and technology from across the state. IronCAD team members were fortunate enough to sit amongst the judging committee, reviewing and rating the innovative array of imaginative projects, and offering encouraging advice.

“IronCAD’s participation every year is about more than a sponsorship,” IronCAD Software Engineer and Educational Program Liason, Cameron Schriner said. “When envisioning a future based around design, engineering, and collaboration, the biggest constant is the new faces taking on those challenges. If those young minds start receiving encouragement early in life, their ability to reach new heights only improves. This program is an investment in the future that allows for a fun spin on social engineering that spreads beyond the direct contributors.”
