tlehnhaeuser
Hello All, I am reaching out to all gearheads in the community. I am trying to create a gear mechanism however I'm stuck since gear design is not on my resume :-) I have attached the scene for anyone interested in solving. The Problem. I have a smaller drive gear that spins at 12 RPM, I need to drive the larger internal gear so it rotates anywhere between 1-2 RPM. I set have chose 2 RPM cause its easy math 6:1 Ratio. So I figured 12 teeth on small gear and 72 teeth on large gear. So my problem is how to determine the circular pitch between teeth on larger gear so it meshes correctly. The larger gear has to roughly stay around 13" diameter. If anyone can solve I would be forever in your debt :-) tom gears.ics
SVAN GELDERN
Tom, For part 110, if you change the "time effect" to "none" and "pan" to "2160" (360 * 6) the gears will stay synchronized when animated. Is that what you are after? Steve

But thanks Tom

tlehnhaeuser
Steve U got it, but how are you gettig the animation correction? I'm stumped. attached is my new gear design and according to all the calculations the gears are right but during animation they don't mesh correctly. Appreciate any insight you may have. thanks Tom Clock_4__gears.ics
dleczynski
http://www.gearotic.com/index.html I use this when it comes to gears in IronCAD. Also customers who have the example of CNC 5 axis
