Malcolm Crowe
Within CAXA, the Part quantities extracted are the same as the unsuppressed Part quantities within the source BOM file (3D Scene). If externally linked part files are being used, by default CAXA will extract the BOM quantity from the applicable Part source file (which will be a value of "1"), whereas the quantities from Assembly source files might be preferable. While any extracted quantity can be easily modified within the BOM, it is also possible to extract and combine the quantities automatically from multiple Assembly source files. In the attached video (1), the CAXA Part drawing shown is referencing its associated Part 3D Scene. However, this Part 3D Scene is being referenced within 3 different Assemblies (Projects 2001, 2002 and 2003); so how to extract the total quantity to be manufactured for multiple Assemblies? When the BOM is inserted into the Part Drawing it initially extracts the quantity from the Part source file (showing a value of "1"). Because we want the quantity displayed to be the total to be manufactured, additional BOM source files need to be added to the CAXA BOM. The quantity displayed within the BOM will then be the combination of the quantities extracted from the attached source files. Note that the original quantity "1" from the "Part" source file isn't wanted, so the quantity property link is deleted (within Update BOM) for that source file. In this first video (1) I'm extracting "All Parts" from the attached source files, and then within the BOM choosing to only "display" the applicable Part. However, instead of extracting "All Parts" it is possible to extract only the Part required through the use of Configurations within the source Assembly files. This is demonstrated in the shorter video (2). The disadvantage of this approach is the need to create these configurations first. HDEAR
@Malcolm Crowe Hi Malcolm What is the procedure for setting up the BOM Item Symbol to a circle as default? Do I double click on the BOM in the .tpl file, click right hand top corner of table, select the 'Set text's frame of no', then OK, then OK and then save the tempate? Thanks - Harley Edited August 15, 2021 by HDEAR
Malcolm Crowe
Hi Harley, I don't know how to set a new default selection for the BOM Text Frame. Maybe someone else does. Malcolm
Jonas@Solidmakarna
As far as I know it isn't possible yet, but it would be very much appreciated if it was added. I have an Incident No #101994 which should be connected to an ER to allow us to control the default setup of the BOM (Item Bubble) Text Frame in the template.
