  1. 2021-01-21 15-58-43.mp4 Good Afternoon, Does anyone have any idea why this is happening to my sheet metal? It looks like some weird intentional behavior, but it is very unwanted by me. Any tips would be great, thanks. - Spencer
  2. Can you be more specific? I ask only because generally you would use a center mark which you would then dimension to. The center mark itself would tell the viewer it was the center of the hole. - Spencer
  3. This is a cool feature for sure. A while back I answered a question about making a pyramid using this feature and it was very helpful in the process. It wasn't long before that when I realized it was a feature at all. -Spencer
  4. I have had the same experience as RJ in this. Mostly handrails in my case. A lot of them are angled and mate weird, but I send what it should look like and they have no issue making the part and it always fits up. -Spencer
  5. You can also go to the menu and turn it off. I use it for bubbling and make my grid smaller than default for lining everything up. 2020-11-03 13-14-11.mp4
  6. Never mind, I finally had time to take a look and not even the copy is working. Definitely a Bug. Can not copy, can not move. -Spencer
  7. Hey Hein, Let me start by saying that I am in no way affiliated with IronCAD and have been a user for about 3 years now. If you post a question on this forum, you will almost always get an answer or multiple answers of methods, comment, etc. within a couple hours (sometimes and often sooner). I have met some of the people who work for and with the company (including Cary) and they are very responsive and willing to help customers. I don't think you will have any problems with customer support if you go with IC. They certainly don't give the impression that they make a product and you have to live with it like a lot of other companies. Customers get real input and it is nice to see some of the creative ways people solve problems on here. Just the way I see things, Good Luck! - Spencer
  8. Good Morning Harley, I seem to remember this happening to me as well. If I remember correctly if you move copy the part and delete the original it will work. Not the most elegant way to solve it, but I recall doing it a few times. -Spencer
  9. 2020-10-26 15-55-26.mp4 How about this? -Spencer
  10. Brilliant, Thanks Cary! - Spencer
  11. Most of the time I can use the broken view tool, but once in a while I need a more complex option for breaking out a region. I generally just like the versatility of using the zigzag line type for different applications. -Spencer
  12. Good Afternoon. I was wondering if there was a linetype for ZigZag in ICD. If I want to show a broken view and manually input the lines. Thanks. -Spencer
  13. This should work for you I think. If they are external you just go to the ICMECH Tools catalog and use the External Link Manager. -Spencer 2020-10-26 14-10-48.mp4
  14. Yeah, similar to the entering large assembly mode prompt. Would be nice. They could always hide the other options in settings or options to allow for rare overrides. - Spencer
  15. I would generally agree with you, but I have noticed when doing schedule 40 piping and some other shapes, the internal hidden wall will display incorrectly in precise mode and correctly in every other. There are a few cases where I have to switch. Sometime (earlier today in fact) the side view of a bent angle disappeared in precise and was showing fine in draft mode. I corrected this by changing the kernel , but this does not always work. If some of these behaviors were fixed then I completely agree with you on that. -Spencer
  16. Good Afternoon Malcolm, It is very good that you are trying to incorporate this for the fabricators (so long as they are aware you have already done it for them through a note on the assembly or something). I usually do a manual offset that depends on the thickness of material, type of weld, etc. if it is a critical assembly. It is not a very efficient way, but its just what I have got used to doing. We work with only a couple fabricators that help us get our products to market, but any time i'm unsure of something I pick up the phone and call one of the engineers to make sure we are on the same page. Sometimes the company you are sending the drawings to (if you do not do the welding in house) will have a table or chart they use as a rule of thumb and if you are making their life easier they may be willing to send it to you. Just my two cents worth, however not useful that may be haha. Good Luck! - Spencer
  17. I actually ended up making a full video tutorial series for the people I work with that want to get into IC and I was not aware of your videos. Could have saved me a bit of time haha. Keep it up, great work. - Spencer
  18. Good Afternoon my fellow IC people. Here is something I have been doing for a while because I do a fair amount of structural work. It is just a simple way to get a clean looking channel right off the bat without doing line edits, etc. It can make a structure look much much cleaner and easy to look at if there is a lot going on and I was in the middle of some channel detailing so I figured I would share. Hope this helps someone out there, cheers. - Spencer 2020-10-09 13-38-00.mp4
  19. Bart, Just out of curiosity. Is this for a wood truss application? Shapes such as this one (but much simpler) are commonly used in framing of wood structures. -Spencer
  20. What type of computer are you using? Your typical computer (less than say 5 years old) should be able to import 50 parts in under a minute or two. I think the last time I imported something from solidworks it was an elevator structure (about 220MB) and it only took around 5 minutes or so. Most grabcad assemblies I import take less than a minute. - Spencer
  21. To be completely honest, I have never produced a render in IC that looked acceptable to me despite messing with all sorts of settings, lights, etc. I know people who have and even they are generally not sure how it worked out the one or two times it did. That being said, there are a lot of other products you can use for this. Keyshot is integrated very well into IC if you have the money for it. Blender is free, but very confusing with a steep learning curve initially (tons of online tutorials though). If you figure it out in IC, let me know how you did it. -Spencer
  22. What you can do is make one out of curved stock and leave an extremely tiny gap (unless there is a specific reason you need it sewn). It will unfold like any other sheet metal part. -Spencer
