schizek
I have a few general questions for the masses. What is the average size of the files you are working on? What is the average File/Open time? What is the average File/ Save time? Any information would be appreciated.
Chris Lohman
As I work with everyone I don't see an average. Once customer just passed on this information to me yesterday though. He was working with 20+ meg scene files (much more I think but can't remember) and it was taking 10 minutes or more to save the scene. He found that upgrading from 512 ram to 1 gig of ram reduce the save time to 3 minutes. So the more ram you have, the faster you can save and I would assume load. Of course faster disks can make a huge difference also. A 15k SCSI drive is just plain faster so it makes any file operations faster. dhovatter
CHRIS Why is it that if you bring in from catalog 2 assemblies that are 1M each and save the file {which is now aprox. 2.1M} then recall the file delete the 2 assemblies and drag in a block from the shapes catalog the file and save the file now becomes 1.4M insted of the 56K that would result from draging in the block and saving it in a new scene by it's self. Is IC keeping a bunch of garbage that just grows each time you build and remove stuff from a scene. Is there a way to do a clean save of file? jwells531400
IronKevin: I agree, I have usually had to save as to a different file name to get the file to reduce down. And usually before I add file to teamvault. Can purge command be helpful in this situation.
