HCMFab
What is the best way to miter these toolbox corners to create a flange for the door to seal against? I have to build this toolbox in 3 separate sheet metal pieces. Thanks Toolbox Miter.ics
aalbè
Hi HCMFab, I used Add Miter (in Sheet Metal Ribbon Bar) for the first SM and HBlock for the other cuts Toolbox Miter 01.ics
SSIMMONS
Keep in mind that a welder and a grinder are magical things. Even with little corner gaps (the bend corners will just naturally create gape when bending) you can fill them roughly up to the thickness of the material and grind the visible bits flush to look really nice. This is from a more practical perspective, but if you want it to just look good on the screen and let a fabricator make it work then the method above looks really nice to me.
HCMFab
Aalbe, that method works great. I didn't even think of it. Thank you! Ssimmons, I agree 100%. The corner gaps will work fine. In fact, it's usually better to have some gap to get things fit up, and to get good penetration in the weld. I'm the CAD guy, the CNC guy, the press brake guy, and the fabricator so I know I can make it work in reality. I'm just new to CAD, so I didn't know the best way to make the miter in the drawing. I appreciate your input! Thanks!
