cborer
I would like to create H shapes to store in the catalogs. Is it possible (some checkbox) to change a positive shape into a H shape. (I know boolean and as well the +/- shape functions) It would be good to have a checkbox: Positive shape / H shape Boolean does not work if a part is in an assembly (which is often bad to me)
SSIMMONS
Yeah, you just drop a hole shape onto an object (so it is easier to work with and select), edit the solids cross sections, copy cross section, edit hole block cross section, paste, catalog. -Spencer
cborer
Dear Spencer Thank you! Yes this sounds like working. :-) Still: the "H Shape" checkbox in the Part Properties would be a nice ER Many thanks Carlo
SHORNBRO
Actually, there is a Checkbox, though it is not in "Part Properties." Intellishapes are treated as sketch extrudes, and as such you can toggle between "Add Material" and "Remove Material" within the "Edit Feature" dialog of the Intellishape properties. See the attached video - hope this answers your question also. With this in mind, I also use the method Spencer suggested as well - creating cataloged Hole Shapes is as easy as creating cataloged Solid Shapes. - Sam 2022-01-04 09-18-52.mp4
cborer
Dear Sam Cool! I tried and it works perfect. Many thanks. I was searching on properties of the shape box (old way) :-) Great many thanks Carlo
tlehnhaeuser
Hi Carlo, Just remember, whatever you have selected in the scene ( Intellishape, Part, etc..) can be dragged into a catalog. Also, what I do for "H" shapes is name them first in the scene browser and then drag to a catalog, that way it remembers for future use. cborer
Ah Tom You wanted to tell me: on shape level instead of part level....you are very right! Many thanks Carlo

cborer
Thats how I did it on the end.... Sadly that the 2d Text tool is always mirrored with H Shapes. I guess it is a bug
tlehnhaeuser
Hi Carlo I think the mirrored text is a bug, I will file it to IC. In the meantime, I just wanted to point out that you can rename the Intellishape before dragging to catalog for maybe better management. 3DTEXT.mp4
cborer
Dear Tom Meanwhile I do so! But good advice. PS there is another bug with 2d Fonts: Ones draged on a part, sometimes I would like to change the size (scale) This worked one single time, in the Cross section by selecting the Font Lines and resize in the dialog tab. But it worked just one time.....now I cannot select the font anymore. Also draging on shapes: the orientation is always different. Also the sizebox is not arround the text, and handles cannot scale text. So to me 2d Text is full of bugs...sadly Edited January 5, 2022 by cborer

All you have to do is copy the cross section text after the letters are created and edit a hole block. Same process as I mentioned above. Should be able to scale it up, down, left, right, etc. 2022-01-05 15-28-43.mp4 Edited January 5, 2022 by SSIMMONS Additional Information
cborer
Dear Spencer Thank you. I do not have mechanical. But also think some fundamentals should be done in IC main. So I think here should be an update necaissairy for the fastest and most intuitive CAD Your sample contains a lot of clicks. If I have the time I do it in Rhino where a good text tool is availible ....but forwards and backwards is pain. Many thanks and have a nice day Carlo Edited January 6, 2022 by cborer
maurizio@fronema
Hi Spencer, using IC_Mechanical, you can place directly a Part, an HShape, an IShape or a Profile. This video is self explaining.. Have a nice day M Text3D.mp4
