  1. Yeah, and then just do a rotational copy like the video below for the rest. And you can also trim the inside out to make it flush inside if need be. Tons of different ways to do that. - Spencer 2020-01-30 10-34-14.mp4
  2. Orlik, I know how frustrating it can be. I came from Solid Works and there was definitely a learning curve. I was the first person at my company to try IronCAD to see if it was a program we could use for modeling so i had no one to ask questions which didn't help. So fortunately and unfortunately I was forced to learn and optimize my work flow in whatever ways i could (People Like RJ and Cary were great resources to me and still are). Eventually i learned many of the features and the little odd quirks that may come with them. I am by no means even close to learning everything about IronCAD, but that's what makes the experience fun and eye opening. That is also why when someone on here asks how to make a pyramid that is subdivided everyone jumps at the chance to try it with their own methods which usually results in me learning even more. I think after you get through the initial frustration you will enjoy the modeling experience much more in IC, but who knows. I attached a short video of me building a sheet metal chute to show some of the basic methods used with this sort of thing (I even included some of my mistakes that i had to fix). I am sure that you have seen everything i do in the video because they are basic operations, but maybe it will help you see the potential speed and efficiency in building things in IC (even when you mess up a few times). Keep in mind that i didn't link any of the parts in the video which would have made it twice as fast. Good Luck. - Spencer 2020-01-30 09-06-35.mp4
  3. Orlik, I think the important thing is to know that IronCAD is NOT like other CAD and is meant to operate on different principles. If you want to treat it like other CAD you can still model, but you will be slowing yourself down by doing it that way. Rely on the tools that were implemented in IronCAD to avoid such hindrances to the process of modeling. If you ever want to realign something to the world axis for whatever reason you can simply drop a block in space and use its flat sides as references because it will be aligned to the world axis. Any part creation should be based on other parts or assemblies within space. Use these parts as references to mirror, copy, etc. and you will be in great shape. If you want to use the global axis just rely on the first part to define the location of the rest and it will naturally happen in a lot of cases. If you need specific examples let me know and ill throw in some short videos. - Spencer
  4. The only way i know of is the same way you would do it for a innovative part. Right click drag and apply to all parts. Then make it a feature of those parts by right clicking on it in the AF Group. For holes anyway. - Spencer
  5. Tom, I was referring to the reflection on the surface. It seems to be reflecting a 3D environment. Maybe it just looks that way though. That being said, i will definitely take the texture, Thanks. - Spencer
  6. Are you using an HDIR background? Just curious because i have never seen someone do that on IC before, but i know you can. -Spencer
  7. I do know that sometimes if setting on the VM are not changed the system requirements you have will exceed the maximum allowable by older programs. It can often be under a Gig at an OS that old. I ,of course, have no idea if this is what is happening to you. I doubt it since you have ran IC on VM before, but may be worth a look. Also, i am fairly sure i run my home license on Windows 10 home just fine. I am not the sort to buy an upgraded (more expensive) version of an OS if i dont need it at home. I will have to double check later. - Spencer
  8. No configurations or external links. Seems to be random in normal/ basic scenes, but like i said it happens maybe once or twice a month. I will try to capture it next time it happens. - Spencer
  9. Sometimes I get randomly Suppressed parts and assemblies and if i suppress them and then suppress them again it all comes back. It is a bit weird for sure, but it doesn't happen all that often. Not sure if this is the case here, but it could be. - Spencer
  10. Hello Gary, I am not super familiar with virtual machines because i generally update software as the updates come, but this program may be worth a shot for you. Good Luck. https://www.groovypost.com/howto/setup-a-virtual-machine-to-run-older-or-incompatible-software-on-windows-10/
  11. So i did this very quickly so it's not too pretty, but you will get what i mean from it i hope. - Spencer 2020-01-23 13-53-21.mp4
  12. Yeah, you could just use curved stock with a tiny split and hole blocks to achieve whatever you want. After that you copy, rotate, and paste. - Spencer
  13. Well as far as i can tell it is simply adding the hole block (or cylinder) as a standard hole block to each part it interacts with. So it can be copied and mirrored (not linked after the fact together, but all copies can be linked and mirrors also). If you do copy or mirror it will act as a standard hole block unless it is done before the feature is applied to all shapes. As far as the different size holes being dropped, very interesting. I could not replicate this so it might be a bug. If you "regenerate part" does it change back to the normal size? If you restart do you get the same results? Might be intentional behavior as well. I actually recently learned of this feature from a webinar that IronCAD did on some of the basic functionality with Bobby Fischer (I remember his name because the famous chess master). It is amazing what basics can be overlooked when getting really familiar with a program. - Spencer
  14. Here you go, - Spencer 2020-01-21 13-39-41.mp4
  15. Well, to be completely honest. If I am doing something as complicated and asymmetrical as a rose i travel on over to grabCAD and hope someone already put the leg work in. If you find one there you can import and modify it to your hearts content. If you are looking for artistic capabilities you may want to try using a mixture of IronCAD and Blender. I often do this for website models, etc. I model in IronCAD because i find it faster and easier and then i do the rest in Blender (using wavefront files with texture and material output) (shading, texture, animation, lighting, etc.). - Spencer
  16. Good Afternoon, This is by far the fastest method for doing it that i have come up with (hopefully your computer doesn't explode). Also, if you want the blocks staggered you just offset them before adding the hole block. -Spencer 2020-01-20 14-00-36.mp4
  17. This may be a bit time consuming if i am understanding you correctly. You want 7 layers that are then subdivided multiple more times? I attached a video (first try and was eating a sandwich while i did it so apologies on the modeling efficiency) of one way it can be done. You may want to consider trying Boolean operations also. - Spencer 2020-01-17 12-46-20.mp4
  18. Frank, I honestly cant get it working myself. I know that about 2 years ago I tried it out and it worked. I did notice that when i go to edit my material the thermal properties are all grayed out so this may have something to do with it. I am curious now myself. - Spencer
  19. I would definitely use the Miter Flange with "create miter flange only" turned on. This tool is fantastic and will save you a ton of time. Any weird or odd reliefs that are required (for instance to avoid overlapping geometry) can be done manually by editing cross-sections, but i think the miter flange tool will take care of most of the situations that come up. - Spencer
  20. Here is one more just because..... ( more of a simple method for making it) - Spencer 2020-01-13 14-37-44.mp4
  21. Here is another method you could use, though I think the way Cary did it is more efficient. - Spencer 2020-01-13 09-52-39.mp4
  22. Orlik, You might want to contact support directly if the drawing contains sensitive designs or information. If not, just post the files here are more than one person will look into it and try to help you out. Good Luck! - Spencer
