  1. Let's say that you know that in a model you will have to change dimensions of your parts more that several times before you get to final result. One change of one part means that you need to change 5,10 or more parts accordingly. (for example change of position of a screws means that you need to change positions of all holes etc) How would you create parts and assemblies and what tools would you use, so that you wouldn't need to manually change all dimensions and positions with the triball? Traditional constrains seems to be not recommended in IC. Structured parts allows more power, but these are not recommended in IC. (or just inovative parts are more loved). It seems that connecting many parts to one plane/axis is not possible in IC. Parameter table is cumbersome for even simple connections(or I just don't know tricks how to use it faster), and it seems that not every value can be connected. Before you tell me that in IC it is possible to work without "obstacles of traditional CAD", I know that. It is possible to modiffy models without worrying that structure of constrains needs to be recreated at some point. But I would prefer to change that structure once per 100 times, raither than manually change every single feature 99 times out of 100.
  2. I am trying to connect a value of "draft angle" in options of sweep, with a varible named "WS" in parameter table. Whenever I type in "WS" it changes back to 0 deg. How to do that?
  3. Crow Thank you for this link and the video. SSIMMONS Thank you for your effort. I wish I had less pressure from my boss to make everything initially faster(he knew that I will be new in IC). Perhaps I woludn't feel that stress and frustration.
  4. I made a cone with holes(picture). how I can aligning a pipe to these 6 holes? I can't use "point to point" and "to center point" with triball, bacuase these holes are "bended" on a cone and are not considered a true circles by IC, so I can't click on centers of these circles. Any ideas for workarounds?
  5. I know. IC has it's own adventages, but... I am trying hard to relay on "non/little constrains" method sugested earlier and triball, but I feel like it slows me down. Could you please give me some tips how to work faster in IC, and to not get annoyed in IC? I am trying hard to follow advice: "get used to it", but the more I try to follow that, the more I get frustrated. I created a block like you sugested, but I can't use it's planes, points and edges for doing patterns and mirrors for other parts. What am I doing wrong? Creating just one coordinate system(or datum features) for related parts, would grant me more control and automation in modeling. Just one to "rule them all".
  6. If only datum planes can be used for that kind of features, then what for are Coordinate Systems? Can you show me some videos with examples? I know how to create structured parts. But I wonder is there a possibility to transform existing "innovative part" to "structured part"? And vice versa?
  7. I have created a coordinate system. How can i select it's planes or axis for operations like mirrors or pattens for parts/features?
  8. 1. I made a copy of a sheet1 in drawing and named it as Sheet2. 2. In sheet2, I delated 3 out of 4 views. 3. I tried to move the remaining view to center of this sheet. 4. Then the program froze. I closed IC with alt+ctrl+del. 5. I repeted steps 1 and 2. 6. I saved this file. 7. Then I tried to move in again. 8. Then the program froze again. I closed IC with alt+ctrl+del. 9. Now I can't even open this file. IC is not responding. What I can do about that? I don't want to do it all over.
  9. In a subassembly I have main configuration and an alternative configuration with suppressed parts. How can I propagate that alternative configuration for higher level assembly? Is it possible to create an alternative configuration in main assembly and choice configuration for subassembly?
  10. An imported supressed assembly was the reason. I turned off "Include this shape in BOM" of that assembly, and it helped. Thank you Mike.
  11. Sometimes when I insert a BOM table with option "parts only", it spawns a table that is too long. For example if there is only 6 parts in a assembly, it drops a list of length for 855 parts. On position 1, 2,3 and 4 contains information for 4 parts, then there is a long "empty gap" from 5 to 853 and on position 854 and 855 there are two last parts. How to fix it?
  12. Is there a way to link dimensions of a part to description of that part? For example dimensions of a square profile(30x20x2; 40x40x3 etc.) in a frame?
