jkostrica
Hi IronCAD team, Is IronCAD ready for windows 8 ?
msecco
I think the correct question is "Windows 8 is ready for IronCAD?" (or any other desktop application)
Cary OConnor
It is not yet certified for the 2013 upcoming release. We have tested and it seems to install, but some of the Add-on tools do not function. We will be testing to figure out the cause. I would plan that 2013 PU1 should be able to be certified for 8. msecco
Windows 8's interface is good for mobile devices (tablets and smartphones, not for laptops). Microsoft is ignoring users that run essentially desktop jobs, like CAD/CAM, text editing, programming, publishing, etc.. The use of the old desktop in Windows 8 is seriously harmed by the absence of the start button and new way to deal with windows.
jkostrica
Maybe is in possible in the future to work with Iron CAD by tables only with fingers (without mouse).
Jonas@Solidmakarna
Here's a pretty good tool for those of you who want the "good old" start menu back, but also a lot more stuff that has been removed over the years. I haven't tried it myself, but I will probably install it when I run Win 8 in the future... http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/
Jonas@Solidmakarna
Here's another option: http://lee-soft.com/vistart/

mwalls558626
I agree Eric, legacy interface is the best! I hope we won't have to start a "Save the Legacy Interface" movement in the future. Mike
