catalog problem for cams and crankshafts

HMMM... I don't know of any standard catalogs..... at least none that would be true engineered parts.

There are all types of 3d cad examples, not necessarily of cams and crankshafts... if you just want to have some show and tell stuff, it is easy to make your own catalogs.... go to some of the free cad data sites like 3dcafe etc.... usually you may find some engine parts someone made... I have a cam and crank from a pro-e file if you would like... let me know and I will post it tonight.

No automotive manufacturers I know of would be too keen on sharing that type of data.... only option may be to get overall installation sizes and rev-engineer to get you in the ballpark...

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply regarding catalogs on cams and cranshafts. I have come to know that there are standard addon material libararies in solidege these libararies also contain standard cams and crankshafts where you just have to specify your own parametrs parameters. One of my leads has seen the demonstration of solidedge and they want a package which can help them in machine designing based on (packaging machines). Please guide me how I should project this software to him. You have mentione that you havr a pro/e file cam and follwer file please send that file to me

Hello Mukesh,

The Solid egde addon you speak of is called "Engineers Handbook"it costs about $1500 plus about $500 year maintenace fee. I have seen the demo and its fun to watch but not user friendly to do. It works be adding formulas and specific data about the model component, if you do know it all it is very cumbersome and quite often easier to model from scratch in IronCAD and make adjustmenst as needed. Also, the parametric side of the EH si good only if you know what you need in the future which 99% of time is impossible to attempt unless you have a product line that only has minor changes need per xustomer options and even then is not fool-proof.

Its often hard toovercome this add-on because it looks great when done by the demo jock. It's only after they decide to buy the program that they realize they should have chosen IronCAD instead.

This is my best attempt fo you.
