Juriaan Vis Posted November 15, 2001 Share Posted November 15, 2001 Hello, I'm now using IronCAD 4.2 for several weeks and enjoy. My question is why can't I read Parasolid files. I thougt with this design tool I can communicate with every body - but no... Are there more users that have the same experiance ? Chris Lohman Posted November 15, 2001 Share Posted November 15, 2001 Hi Juriaan and welcome to the community. IronCAD 4.2 is able to import parasolid .x_t files written in parasolid format. You must import a parasolid file by first opening a scene, then using the File/Import command. The file must end with one of the known extensions for it to be imported. If you would like to email one of your files to techsupport@ironcad.com with a short note in the email simply stating that you cannot import the file, then I'll take a look at it and be able to provide additional information. Other information that might be helpful here is what you are doing to import the file, and how very specifically how IronCAD is failing to function the way you expected. In this case it is (not yet) possible to send you the files because of confidance. Next time I will try to get an no confidance file. What's going on while doing you proposed: the program start with opening and shows in status bar how far it proceed. This three values stay at 0%. When I click in the scene the program shows an other status - just what belongs to the idle status. Maby you can give me an other advise to try. Chris Lohman Posted November 16, 2001 Share Posted November 16, 2001 Hmm doesn't sound good. It sounds like IronCAD is just hanging when you attempt to import the file. It could be that IronCAD is looping on some geometry that it doesn't understand. Now I *really* want to see that file so that we can improve IronCAD to work with it . We often sign non-disclosure agreements so that we can help with sensitive files such as yours so that's an option. If you want to fax one to me I'll have our executives sign it. (770-937-0700) Try importing this .x_t file which is just a simple cube. It would be good to see if you can import ANY .x_t file. I can tell you why: we solved this file communication by using another type - viewer stuff. So I have an impression of what is going on. I prefer to figure out when somthing happen again. I could read the file you send so I think there is no problem with my system but with the version or origin of the file.
