Steve Cole
Issues with Virtual Gibbs, Parasolids models. Does anyone have experience with exporting Parasolids models to Virtual Gibbs? My problem is that I originally designed my (injection molded) parts using Autodesk's Mechanical Desktop 6. The parts had a few complex but not overly sophisticated lofts and blends. The vendor that I choose to make the molds did not have the ACIS module for V-G, therefore could not read in my files. They requested Parasolid based models. Since I recently purchased Ironcad, I imported ACIS files from MDT6 into Ironcad with no problem. I then converted the ACIS solids into Parasolid 11.0 models. Originally there were some faces missing when I viewed them in Ironcad but after some tweaking I got acceptable Paradolid models. I sent the Parasolid models to my vendor who opened them up in V-G but has had a lot of problems, mostly pertaining to open volume solids. Has anyone had similar a experience with Parasolids and V-G? Guest Scott Wallis
I use Virtual Gibbs with IronCAD parasolid exports fairly regularly and with no problems. Parasolid is the kernal that VG runs on, so it's not a conversion issue on that end. I suppose you're sure they are on the ver.11 kernal? As much as I don't like IGES, Gibbs does pretty well with it, so you could resort to that if you can't find the problem. Good luck, Scott
