Questions about creating 2D drawings

Hi

1. When creating a 2D drawing with the model of IronCAD 3D scene, use the BCD function to project the 3D model to CAXA 2D and convert it back to dwg, and fill in the anotation in the dwg file.

(Pros : Creating drawings is easier. Supported BDC, ???? )

(Cons In this case, when the 3D model changes, the dimensions in the 2D drawing do not follow the model and are completely decoupled.)

2. 3D model on the IronCAD 3D scene is made into CAXA 2D using the BCD function, and anotation is entered here, and then exported to dwg.

(Pros :  When the user changes the size of the 3D Model, the dimensions will also change accordingly. ????)

(Cons : BDC Not support. ????)

Which of the two methods is more efficient when distributing 2D drawings to an outsourced fabricator?

If anyone is familiar with the above, please explain.

Hi Jang,

For me, it is definitely item No.2 (No.1 on the Picture). However it is for me, not for the outsourced fabricator(You mean 가공집, right? or do you mean 외주 조립 업체?). I don't want to break the link between drawing and model unless it's unavoidable.

But there would be some bugs Due to compatibility issues between CAD doing item No.2 (No.1 on the Picture). To prevent any issues from it, I prefer explode all things in the drawings.

Ps) I don't understand BDC not support. It supports BDC.

Hi TaeGyu,

The link below is to a new post created with your question in mind.

1. IRONCAD Scene (*.ics)

2. CAXA DRAFT Generated Views (*.dwg)

3. DWG Editor (BRICSCAD) externally referencing the Generated Views from the CAXA drawing.

But why not just create the fully annotated drawing in CAXA? This would be more efficient, and you don't lose access to the 3D property information needed for BOMs.

Externally referencing Generated Views from CAXA DRAFT is really useful if you're combining these within another drawing (like a building layout, etc.). But it is a more complicated workflow if all you are doing is annotating the Generated Views.
