HDEAR
Hi all, I managed to make a small SM transition using SM Loft. Although it's a ridiculous size, I tried making one much bigger using the same method. It failed. Does anyone know why that failed - even though I had larger radii on the rectangular section? Malcolm Crowe
Hi Harley, The problem was resolved by rotating the circular sketch 180 deg, so that it's X-Axis is in the same direction as the other sketch. See the attached video. Malcolm Sheet Metal Loft Not Working - 20230214.mp4 Edited February 14, 2023 by Malcolm Crowe
HDEAR
Thanks Malcolm. So simple - I didn't know that trick. I owe you a beer now Harley
Cary OConnor
Yes the directions of the planes will cause the issue as Malcolm pointed out. In this case, it is not just the X-axis but the Z axis as well. In lofts, the Z direction needs to all be pointing the same direction to define the loft direction. In this case, it was reversed thus the no preview. If you just rotated about the Z to rotate the X, it would still fail in this case (since you need both the X and Z aligned). If the X only is rotated, you can start to create a twist in the loft. Glad you have it working! Enjoy the drinks
