HDEAR
Hi cborer, Easy! Make your text solid ( Tools --> Convert to Solid' ) If it's sheet metal, then use the 'Cut Sheetmetal' feature. If it's standard solid, then Bolean Subtract works. Cheers Harley Edited August 1, 2021 by HDEAR
cborer
Thank you Harley Yes that works many thanks. In my sample in a huge assembly the solidify made it disapear so I thoght it is not working. Cheers Carlo
Guest peter
hi carlo, i make all text with rhino and translate to IC. the text quality is better and you can make boolsche op. and you can trim with surface and parts. have a nice time
cborer
Dear Peter Thank you. I normally do as well with Rhino...but there where so many... so I tried after years again with IC. This methode is the fastest: Drag a shape on the place, in the cross section of a shape, the tool for text at cross section is fine meanwhile, .....still the result isnt nice. And when you do it with IC Text is a Tesselation Data which confuses me. Sadly. Many thanks Peter Best Carlo
tlehnhaeuser
Hi Carlo, FYI - IC-MECH has a greta 3D text tool. http://ironcad.it/learnICM/en/tools-catalog/090_text_3d/ Cheers Tom
cborer
Dear Tom Thank you thats how it should be! But a CAD with such a price should handle this without plugin. This should be standard Cheers Carlo Edited August 9, 2021 by cborer
SSIMMONS
All I do is use the 3D text feature and go to edit the cross section, copy it, place a hole block, edit cross section, paste. 2021-08-09 15-51-06.mp4
cborer
So at the end this was the fastest way to me. For technical use this works fine. If you want proper, nice looking, letters and numbers you need Spline Text. Buy Iron Pro or import from Rhino as dxf
