I opted for more of a light grey because it is easy on the eyes while also maintaining a clarity of title blocks, etc. You may want to change your grid lines though because they can get hard to see at times.

I used to tone to a pail yellow or low sepia tint when my monitors were not flicker free back then. I dimmed the brightness to work longer hours but on a white background, flicker was so noticeable. Doing this tone did help me out. Well it may reveal my age then :ph34r: on my taste.

I actually really like that. Looks like engineering graph paper a little bit.
