Guest Chris
Self explanatory title. Can you make a hemmed sheet metal cylinder that unfolds?

What you can do is make one out of curved stock and leave an extremely tiny gap (unless there is a specific reason you need it sewn). It will unfold like any other sheet metal part. -Spencer
jolizon590016
Here is a model of cylinder with the seam unhook. you can use hem instead of a seam in a cylinder as Spencer wrote. Hope this help. However if the hem applies on the end of the cylinder, this will not be the right model. regards to you both. joseph Cylinder.ics Edited July 14, 2020 by jolizon590016
HDEAR
Hi all, I think guest Chris may be wanting to do the hem this way; If so, I doubt the sheet metal function allows that. This was created using sweep. Harley
Guest The Same Guest Chris
You're right Harley, that's what I was after. Thanks for the suggestions guys! If it can't happen I'll just find a workaround I'm happy with - most likely not hemming the sheet metal part in the first place, then modifying the unfolded body with additional width. rsaucier
Keep in mind that if you modify the unfolded part, and then do any regeneration or updating the original part, IronCAD does not remember the added additional width on the unfolded part and will revert to its original state.
