Request: ACIS Assembly Format (.asat)

Recommended Posts

My understanding is that IRONCAD uses SPACIAL 3D INTEROP translation tools. INTEROP offers both Read and Write capability of the ACIS Assembly format (.asat).

The .asat file format would be a lot more useful to us than .sat, as it conveys the assembly structure as well.

Is there any reason why the .asat file format can't be added to IRONCAD?

We prefer to exchange data as a kernel format (either ACIS or PARASOLID depending on the kernel of the other software). But the problem with standard ACIS (.sat) is that the original assembly structure isn't maintained. Assemblies and sub-assemblies are lost. Only parts transmit. This is a real nuisance for us, and wasn't something that we realized as a problem when we first started exchanging data using .sat in the early days.
