Adding part numbers to fasteners

PWATSON

Recommended Posts

We are implementing a new manufacturing software system and part of this implementation is that all of the fasteners we use get part numbers.

I have the IC mechanical addon and with the fastener tool it brings in a part number.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way I can modify the part number that IC attaches to the fastener when i drop it into my scene. Maybe a data file i can modify.

Currently i end up having to manually change each fastener part number as i drop them in..

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

you can set the PartNumber, Description and other CustomData related to the IC-Mechanical elements,

editing the file IPRO_BOM.ini.

This file is placed in the ..\Norme\"NormativeName"

So, as example, if you want tho set the elements related to DIN normative, you have to get the file in the ..\Norme\DIN\ folder.

Every normative available in IC-Mechanical (UNI-DIN-ANSI) contains an IPRO_BOM.ini file.

You can edit it using a text editor.

The syntax used inside this file is very simple and it's explained in the header of the file.

I hope this can help you.

Thanks Maurizio,

I gave that a try but not sure if I can make it work..

It seems the file has a part numbering "rule' based on the parameters of the fastener (codexLxM).

If i could somehow manipulate the parameters I may be able to make it work but not sure where these parameters are defined.

Hi Peter,

please send me some more information about how would you

create the PartNumber of the fasteners, and I will explain you

what to do.

(or I will send back to you the corrected files).

In order to speed up these activities I suggest you

to write directly to me at:

Best Regards
