Dimension direction

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if there was any way to change the direction of a dimension when it does not fit between the arrows as shown in the attached example. Basically put the writing to the right of the leader instead of the left and vise versa when the dimension is at the top.

Also, is there a way to flip the direction of the arrows? So instead of being inside the dimension, flip them so they are on the outside of the dimension.

thanks smile.gif

Select the dimension to highlight it (red), right click and you get a popup with all the options available.

Select -

Flip Inside/Outside

- to place the arrows inside or outside the dimension lines.

Reverse knee direction

- to swap the direction of the dimension to the line.

Text

- gives you further options for pretext, post text, font, size, arrow size, dimension style (ansi, iso) and lots more.

To line up dimensions click the point where an arrow meets its dimension line (cursor becomes a hand) and drag it to another similar point, a green dot will appear when snapped, the original dim does not change just realigns with the snapped dim.

If placing radial or diametral dims click the arrowhead (hand again) and drag it around the chord to place it, click the dimension and drag it in or out. Right click when selected to again get to the properties.

Highlight dimension if not already selected and use CTRL-F and CTRL-R shortcut keys to flip inside-out and left right resp.

Also CTRL-0 ( zero ) is handy when you have a dimension like 97.976mm that you want displayed 98mm
