  1. Man I wish you didn't post this question, I can feel my wallet getting slimmer already haha. But in all seriousness, great post and response...I may be revisiting my want for a 3D printer now. Thanks! - Spencer
  2. We too have wanted this feature for a while. You can of course go to McMaster Carr and download anything you want, but these BREP threads just destroy you in file size. I think i deleted a series of MC fasteners the other day (maybe about 40 to 70 of them) and my file size went from 160MB to 30MB. So I guess my point is that as long as they don't bog IC down, it would be awesome to have this option. - Spencer

  4. Wow, I've been trying to do this for years. Thanks a bunch! I still learn new stuff everyday in IC! - Spencer
  5. As a user input custom property you can. This is not ideal though. The 3D Guide Curve intellishape will show the length of the sweep in the "3D curve" tab, but I know of no way to call it in as an actual function of that length. Attached is a somewhat rough video I made in a hurry just now if you need to get it to work right this minute. Good Luck and hopefully someone has a better answer for you, Thanks. -Spencer 2021-03-19 09-21-32.mp4
  6. Thanks so much. I can't believe how close I was. It was not letting me add the "H" variable into the intellishape extrude text box (kept saying it was not a valid entry). I still am not sure why, but I guess I might have been trying to do it at the block level and not the intellishape level by accident. Anywho, Thanks guys! - Spencer
  7. Good Morning Everyone! I have been struggling to understand the parameter table functionality. It is a bit embarrassing, I must say, If anyone has a second can they post a video of a simple shape (box maybe) and the setup process for the 2D sketch parameters and most importantly, that pesky Z or Height axis (and any other tips you may have)? Thanks. -Spencer
  8. I try to stay away from sketch bends personally. Here is a video of how you can build it in only a couple minutes in a different way. - Spencer 2021-03-15 13-21-07.mp4
  9. I am sure you already know this, but here is another method. -Spencer 2021-03-15 12-06-27.mp4
  10. I was thinking it should be default just the other day. I am not sure of too many applications where you would want it part only without the assembly option so to me it makes since to just do Part/Assembly for everything. - Spencer
  11. I think Cary is spot on with this. Right click on the box and "fix to parent" and click the background. Then try again and you should be done. I made a quick video for you (sorry about the lag at the end, my computer hates this assembly for some reason). - Spencer 2021-03-11 09-38-35.mp4
  12. Just because I have a seriously curious mind and like to learn all I can...what resources (besides the all too familiar figure it out as you go) have you used to learn CAXA? Do any stand out as being really good and concise or anything along those lines? I also started in ICD and saw the limitations and moved to CAXA for a couple weeks and eventually swapped back, but this was many years and a lot of learning ago so I may pick it up much faster now. -Spencer
  13. I have struggled with this for a long time. ICD is ultimately what I and a colleague chose, but I am one of two people at my company that do 3D modeling and was essentially hired many years ago to bring us from AutoCAD to a 3D environment (there is A LOT more to this than you might think). This made me initially choose CAXA due to the similarities between AutoCAD and CAXA (might help some of the lifelong 2D users transition smoother), but in time ICD was ultimately chosen, but there have been thousands of choices made since then and I can not entirely remember why. I do hope that ICD will one day have the total functionality to eclipse programs like CAXA and it is growing. but if you want more functionality and the ability to manipulate 2D drawings you might consider CAXA at this point in time, Some of the ICD functionality limitations can make you want to pull your hair out, but in desperation work arounds are found and this ultimately leads to learning new things and a greater understanding of the software in general. A lot of the guys on here use CAXA very successfully and we use ICD successfully. I would suggest doing what we did and just try them both for a month or so and see which is better suited for your needs in particular. Bottom Line: CAXA has more functionality and more options. ICD makes me feel more closely connected to my 3D work and has a lot of future growth potential. -Spencer
  14. No worries! It happens haha. Whenever I get read only issues side from that it is usually because it somehow thinks I am still in IC even though I am not and opened it fresh (this happens fairly frequently), but a restart almost always fixes that, That or someone in my company opened the file and just never closed it, which also happens from time to time. Hopefully someone has a better answer for you because i'm stumped. Good Luck!
  15. File path length is a windows limitation that IC will sometimes throw you into READ ONLY mode as a result or cause you to save a temp file somewhere else. It has happened to me dozens and dozens of times. But with a file path that short it isn't the same...so it is relevant. Just ruling it out as a cause. -Spencer
  16. Hey, Can you post a short video of this? Is the file path super long to the file? -Spencer
  17. There are quite a few ways to skin this cat. Here is another method (if I understand your question correctly). 2021-03-08 15-50-53.mp4
  18. I am not sure how helpful this is, but I believe I had the same issue and it was due to the network license on our server not being updated or something like that. Good Luck. -Spencer
  19. Ah, I see what he means now. Same thing happened to me. Thanks for the fix Kevin! -Spencer
  20. This may be what you are after. It's a little work around sort of thing, hope it helps. -Spencer 2021-02-25 13-56-47.mp4
  21. I want to start by saying I am in no way affiliated with IronCAD or IronCAD personnel. I have no ties to the company other than the use of their product. You need to calm down and stop being rude to the IC support team, they are excellent at what they do and you are just running around like a raging bull with more interest in complaining that letting them resolve your issue. Not a very good way to get things handled and I am certain it will get handled if it hasn't already. It is easy to be rude on a guest account where no one knows who you are, but treat people the way you would in real life because you are talking to real people here and they are only trying to help you. Just my 2 cents worth... -Spencer
  22. Does this help? - Spencer 2021-01-25 10-23-04.mp4
  23. RJ, If you end up sticking with OBS I can send you the keyboard and mouse overlay files I use and a short video on how to set it up (takes maybe 4 minutes or so). - Spencer
  24. Thanks Cary, I messed with those setting thinking that might be the cause, but I must have forgot to hit apply or something. Thanks for the help, bye bye hole block quick fix. -Spencer
  25. This is what I have used for years. It is amazing for streaming (gaming) or just doing work and recording videos. Great suggestion. 2021-01-21 16-33-01.mp4
