    Hey Tom, that's a great tip! Solved a problem that's been bothering me a long time. One further tip: when you define the shell in the intellishape level, add also some start offset, so the shell extends thru the sheet metal stock. You might also want to try to add some bevel to "All Intersection Edges" in the intellishape level. Juha

    The edges of your variable blend continue tangentially from the edges of the corner blend and that's why they have to be curved; otherwise there would be a discontinuity at that point. So, if you put a suitable variable blend also to the corner, you should get the result you want. And use ACIS, it seems to handle this better. Juha Blend1.ics Blend.ics

    I found an interesting thing about these f's and t's: If the LAST letter in a 3D text is f or t, then the convert to solid command produces a surface shape. But if there are these letters somewhere in the MIDDLE of the text, then you get a real solid, though f's and t's still don't look right. Juha

    Remember that you have to use ACIS to make the "convert to solid" work right. I think though that even when using ACIS this function used to work better; Nowdays this "convert to solid" command often produces a surface shape instead of a solid. Juha

    Yes, Robert's tip works fine. But it's even easier if you first drag in the Stock and then ad a Bend w/ Stock. That way you can simply delete both stocks and you don't have to go to the Intellishape properties to set the stock lengths to zero. Juha

    Urban, I had the same black background problem when I viewed the PDFs with Acrobat Reader 4.0. But the problem was solved with installing Acrobat Reader 5.0. With it the backgrounds are as they should be. I haven't yet tested how it affects the detail view problem. Juha
