  1. I'll be the first to say that I much preferred the old board. I'm sure there was a good reason for the change although I can't quite see it yet.
  2. I think we've all been out in the sun too long. Unbeknownst to most people big Bill bought the rights to the sunshine. He has slowly but surely been modifying the underlying principles of physics so that people only see things "his way". (Because he owns the light) By accident someone realized that by wearing an aluminum skull cap the evil forces were repelled and then the truth started to emerge. At first these people were regarded as nothing more than a bunch of nutbars but slowly the tide has turned and the rebellion has begun. So kiddies, get your aluminum hats on and seek the truth. The Mac shall inherit the earth.
  3. Or better yet, why not for the most widely distributed Unix version out there. Also known as OS X. http://www.apple.com/macosx/
  4. Hot off the presses at /. (Slashdot for you people not familiar with the site) http://slashdot.org/articles/04/07/23/1220249.shtml?tid=216&tid=137
  5. I saw and downloaded yesterday. I thought I was a bit behind because the Press Release was dated June 30 and it says: "IronCAD V7 will begin shipping to customers at the end of June 2004." I guess I beat the rush.
  6. I've often thought that a "Duplicate" command would be useful. It would save you from going through the copy/paste gymnastics all the time.
  7. Just make sure that the X direction is pointed the correct way. Actually, in Edgecam Red=X, Green=Y and Blue=Z so, it may be that X and Z are transposed in the viewer which would put the axis in the proper orientation.
  8. Shwing ! Add our enhancement request for OS X please.
  9. In case you're interested. We used to have this same problem with assemblies being brought into Edgecam. There were other issues with linked parts within the assembly. They eventually sorted the problems out and it works pretty good now.
  10. Oops. He has 6.0 PU2 now. Thought I had done it. Thanks Cary.
  11. IBM Intellistation MPro P4 3.2Ghz (Intel) XP Professional (Yuch) 2 Gig PC2700 36Gig Ultra320 SCSI Nvidia Quadro FX3000 Copy Block Test - 1 second Regen Test - 25 seconds FPS Faces - 60 So, we have found (as Chris has) that there must be something up with the Quadro cards. There is a significant video speed improvement over our older Fire GL2 cards (No slouch to begin with) so this test is not making any sense. The interesting thing is that no matter what resolution we use or whether the window is full screen or smaller we report the same fps. I need to correct the numbers on the Fire GL2 card as well. At full screen 1600 x 1200 we get 66 fps and at opening window size it is around 410 fps. So why is the Quadro card reporting such low numbers?
  12. Chris, 3rd posting in this thread. Rotating faces. Rick
  13. We had a similar problem with our Phaser 860. If I'm not mistaken this printer uses Poscript level 3. What we found is that people tend to send very large files to this printer. The problem wasn't with the printer but rather the print server. It was choking to death. When we moved the print server to a more capable machine the printer was fine.
  14. Chris has recently posted: "I would never purchase a wildcat card for IronCAD. While the 3d Labs cards work fine because we use only the most generic of OpenGL calls in our rendering; in the future if we start supporting hardware features in our rendering engine; the hardware that we support will be nVidia and ATI first (speculation at this point). 3D Labs doesn't do anything with their card that is superior enough to justify their major price difference in my opinion. Plus I prefer the driver release cycles and methods for obtaining tech support from nVidia over 3d labs."
  15. Chris, Thanks for the excellent summary. Much appreciated. Rick
  16. Greetings All, Looking at some new workstations. Does anybody have any thoughts or comments about the following video cards? 256MB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 256MB 3Dlabs Wildcat4 7110 What about serial ATA/100/7200 vs SCSI Ultra320/10000? Rick
  17. Bravo. Well said. I sort of feel the same way about Apple and Microsoft. Nearly every day someone rolls their eyes in my presence when I blast off about Bill and his gang of robbers. These days I feel somewhat vindicated because many of my converts are carrying the message forward. I just smile when I hear them raving about some cool thing that their Mac does. Of course I think that I singlehandedly saved Apple from the brink of extinction. (Doesn't everbody?) Regards, Rick
  18. Had to move into this forum to reply. Right click in the BOM. Item Bubble Association is defaulting to Item Number. You can change it to Qty or Custom. The number you see is being picked up from the part properties of your model. If you pick custom you can select from the menu. Any property that contains a value in your model can be used in the bubble. To change property values go to your model and select a part. Right click to part properties and select the Custom tab. In the name field select a property, select a type and then fill in the value field with whatever you desire. Then click add. You will then be able to put these values in your item bubbles. The downside is that I think you can only do this globally.
  19. I've been wondering about this for some time now. Why is it that when you "double click" a .stp, .sat, or .x_t file (pick one) in Windows, IronCAD fires up and creates 2 identical scenes? If you start IronCAD and create a new scene then import the file this does not happen.
  20. Great idea! I got pretty excited about this one until I tried it. It seems the BOM function has some issues. Maybe in a later version.
  21. Select face_Create 3d curve_Select 3D curve_Export Iges Easy.
  22. I have an extruded shape that we want to have wire cut. I would like to send the 2D profile to the wire guys in IGES format. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to export the 2D profile. I made a 2D shape but it doesn't seem possible to export from there. Any suggestions?
