After a short inquiry to my Render friend: He told me that: http://www.vrayrender.com/ ....easy in use! http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/sf_gen_page...ries/components .....slow! http://www.finalrender.com/ are about equal in quality and the 3 top leading Renderers just sputterfish seems to be much slower

Thanks Mark Here is his adress: http://www.3d-artist.ch/ There are some more nice samples. He thinks final render is the best. I do not know that. They had a sample with a Mercedes with Frosty-cristals which really looked realistic. When we speak of Rhino: They have Flaminco (Renderer) and Penguin (sketch renderer) I bought both.... but had not the time to get in! Grrrr... But I guess they are not too far. Splutterfish looks impressiv too! Anyway here my criterions of choosing a Renderer: 1. Quantity of realism & sketch tools & Quality of Renderings 2. Easy of use!!!! 3. Speed 4. Preview cutting picture I would like to have a top quality Renderer in Iron Cad If IC makes a good choice I will buy it extra Around 1000$ would be OK to me

I do not agree that there are only 10 points to get IC! There are more! Still there is a thing with the constrains which really does not work proper. See the 2 files (I reported it at IC 6, but it still is not working) One from me / one from Urban (thanks to Urban) It is a table with a wooden sheet on top. I like to change the size of the wooden top and want to go the whole rest with it. Play with it! And see! Sometimes it just changes the top sheet. Or it will change the profile of the steel - frame. In both cases IC unlocks locked dimensions, as well between shapes or parts as in the shape – cross section. The file from Urban works. I do still not understand why his is working and why mine fails. ( I ll post mine in the next one) Tisch_Rahmen_variable_Urban.ics

Thanks Tom ....this is funny But it reminds me on behaviour of boolean with negative shapes. Always click first the positive and then the negative. ....gives sense somehow. I like to read and watch your Tips, Thanks! Carlo

Thanks Kevin 2) I always wondered why the preview pictures are not to see in the windows explorer! Chris I still like to have the right Icon, also if it is absolutely not important. I had this 3 points and always wondered why it did not work. As I am your biggest Fan it does not matter, but my computer consultant says: oh its IC again. So the little things are not important but they are. Anyway I wait for other solutions which are more important to me.

I had some confusion too, caused by that .ics.

Hi Chris I like the second version of the new board much more. Better handling now. I always was wrong with the handling of green and blue, still after some time. Now the difference between new and old is well to see. Thanks to Iron Cad for lissening on us.

I like the new board, especially the new options like the Avatar. Colours are confusing me a little too Green is to me: go, or like: take this And green and blue is to near. I would use green and grey. Grey for already read. ....a question of time to learn that. Chris: the best is to ask me first! :-) Which is really bad is the fact that graphics are very dressed up, like anybody does today (Microsoft and so on ) Fade colours up and down, bright and dark. This looks good and professional, but its much harder to read and the eyes become confused and tiered much faster. I think it will need some time until the programmers learn that: less is more! Anyway good work! By the way: I do not understand the meaning of 4 spheres or one cylinder at the username.

Yes here`s the moment to give maximum points to Iron Cad! Boolean comands do not kill the intelligence of the shapes. I can change all shapes of boolean after it ( as well as the remaining as the cutting shapes!) I use that very often, cause it is very helpful in the design process. Sometimes I cann`t believe how good this works even with very complicate loft shapes; and how easy it is to change the shapes. So here are my maximum points to IC!

Don! I agree 100%. Whenever I look at an other CAD system I must say its so easy & much more fun to work with Iron Cad! But still there are some important tools missing.

The way we Europeens have to handle it is a shame! Pure! I do not know anybody ( who is not a programmer) who wants to handle it like that! And I think it is not a big job for IC to make these sheets better & automatic with the choose of metric standart. So do not worry if IC will not sell as a sheetmetal CAD in metric land. So simple!

The axis free viewer Hoops ( normal version) will show IC exported shapes (as Axis) mirrored. I tried to mirror them in IC and show them in Hoops again. It will be very dark, near to black coloured with bad shadding.

OK I found the toolbox.txt file. But I will never change something in that. I fear that IC wount work again after my changes! And maybe suport is happier too (and saves a lot of time) if I do not change something

Hi Cary Thanks I have it in mm. But the offered stock is like that: 1.045 mm or 2.456 mm and so on. When I buy a sheet metall in the store here in Switzerland I can choose a 1mm or 1.5 mm 2, 3 , 4 mm but not the ones IC offeres me. As I do not know anything about programming ( I am a tipical mouse user, thats one reason why ironcad is so good for me) I wish to find it like a catalog. Please see my suggestion and let me know what you think about it.
