  1. Hi Harley, Here's the other way to rename an ICS while the assembly is open. change linked ICS name.mp4 and some times I rename and relink multiple ICS files like this... Relink ICS files.mp4 I want to rename them on the fly without closing down. It would help a lot if you didn't have to unlink when you have a lot of file names to change. - Doug
  2. Thank you Eds. That sounds like it might work. I'll take a look at that when I get back to work.
  3. I did try turning off or hiding the file extensions yesterday. As expected... that didn't make any difference.
  4. Yeah... the system files check out OK. I wasn't running sfc from the command prompt like you said. I noticed in the File Explorer quick search, if I search for a part number, still everything except .ics pops up there until I hit enter and some of the .ics files are showing up so I think I'll give up on this problem for a while. Still, I can't get any .ics files from the Start bar search so the File Explorer search is better.
  5. I ran that earlier (as Administrator) and it was OK but I just tried it again and it shuts down right away. I will try again after a restart.
  6. Hi Spencer, Same here, thanks for trying though. The indexing seems to be working fine. I even turned off everything except .ics and then nothing would come up in a search. I thought it might have something to do with the file type - app settings but that looks good. One other thing I noticed after I change the image extensions to another app Windows keeps changing some of those back to the default photos app and I haven't been able to get those to stick with the app that I want after multiple attempts. - Doug
  7. I see what you'r saying but it's not working for me. I can find everything except .ics files. All of my scene files (.ics) show up as IronCAD files as well but they won't show up in a search which is baffling. Explorer .ICS search.mp4
  8. Here are the IC file types selected in the advanced indexing options.
  9. Hi Spencer, I tested that and I get the same results. I can find everything except .ics or scene files. That was a good idea though. Thanks, Doug
  10. I understand this problem is related to Windows 10 but if anyone has any ideas I'm still struggling to figure out why I can't find a single .ics file on the Windows search. I verified that .ics is selected in the index same as .icd, I ran the Windows search and index troubleshooter, I've restarted Windows search and rebooted, I reset WIndows search, I expanded the indexing and rebuilt the index a couple times now. I'm at a loss as to why I can't find a IronCAD scene file on windows 10.
  11. Recently I installed Windows 10 Pro. Usually I can type a part number or description into the Start Menu and the part will come up, I can right click the part, select Open File Location and open the folder from there. On Windows 7 it worked fine other than a few times when Windows lost the file index and it had to be rebuilt. It saves time vs. going thru folders to get to a part. With Windows 10 when you enter into the Start Menu you can search for local files the same way (I think) plus everything goes to Microsoft servers for a Bing search. For some reason I'm not finding any .ics files in the Start Menu. I made sure the indexing is turned on for the "users" folder (and everything underneath that) but for some reason it's not pulling up any .ics files and evidently there is no way to turn off the Bing search feature anymore so you end up with a list of things from the interweb. I have been able to find .icd files this way but I don't have drawings for every .ics file so I have to resort to regular menu. Has anyone else had an issue with this? any ideas?
  12. There's a video here on how to do that in the scene. https://www.ironcad.com/blog/whats-new-in-2020/
  13. If you're making an IronCAD drawing you can right click in your front view and select "Edit View Orientation". Then in the View Creation Properties there under Current Front View Direction you can select "From Scene". That might be what you want. There is a couple more ways to set the front view it in the scene.
  14. Sometimes I think the reference line should snap to points easier. If I remember it won't snap to a point if you have a dimension line over the top of that point. So you have to move the dimension line out of the way to snap it and then put it back. Most the time I don't have any problem but it seems like there are some issues with reference lines snapping. Here are a couple things I noticed and tried to show in the video... 1. If I snap a reference line from the center of an edge to the center of my square the dimension of the line (at center point of part) is not always the same but if I start at the center and snap to the edge it works fine. 2. You can't snap to the end of the first reference line (at center of this part) when you start a new reference line, but you can snap to that end point if you start a new reference line somewhere else and then snap to that point. I'm not sure why that would make any difference... just seems like something wrong with the snapping to me. reference line.mp4
  15. I see what you're talking about. I had a hole in the center of my example so it worked that way.
  16. In that case you can use a reference line to dimension it like your image. I like the pattern callout in the video better though.
  17. I noticed when I was moving points on that rectangle the rendering was fixed but the problem moved above to the other long vertical rectangle. I also noticed if you just constrain the bottom line the rendering works. That line must be barely off perpendicular because I measured 90.0000 degrees at the bottom.
  18. Here's another way to solve that problem. Those lines aren't exactly perpendicular to each other which brings up my question... Why doesn't IronCAD render it anyway? Part13 render.mp4
  19. Another issue I had and turned out wasn't the 3D controller. If you edit cross-sections a lot and the view rotates or flips around there is a setting in IronCAD you can turn off. Go to Tools>Options>General Settings>Camera and "Enable Camera Look At during editing" is on by default.
  20. Yep, I've always had an issue every once in a while where the perspective goes outta wack and I have to use the fit scene button. Never figured that one out.
  21. There is a setting for mouse wheel zoom direction but I'm not sure that will help. It sounds like something else.
  22. Thanks Jonas! That might be helpful later on. Thought I had the last driver at 6.16.1 but it's working fine for Windows 7.
