  1. Thanks for that. How do I create a local coord. sysytem?
  2. Hi, Can I reset the orientaion of the screen. When I start a scene the x,y,z co-ordinates are back to front. I've always worked on the principle that x is left to right, y is front to back and z is up and down. It makes makes a difference when you place your elevations in a drawing because the orientaion is all wrong. I never had this problem with IC8 or IC7 Because I work with single parts rather than assemblies its becomes annoying after awhile have to keep turning things around with the tri-ball. Cheers Danny
  3. Thanks Kevin I will let you know how it goes. It might be a while before I get back to you. Because of the 7 hour time difference I'm going home now. Thanks again Danny
  4. Hi Kevin, I installed the hot fix and everything worked ok. I shut down that night and started again the next day. Used IC on an off during the day, no problems. Shut down last night, started again this morning I get the dreaded error. I dont think windows updated yesterday or today, I havent installed anything lately or changed configurations. I am running Symantec anti virus and security, Intel Pro Wireless There is a thing called Machine debug manager running in the background (don't know what this is) Being a Dell machine you get an awful lot of junk with it (I'm being polite here). I am thinking about doing a clean install of Windows XP but would rather not if I can help it. I am assuming that something has corrupted Ironcad.exe. I'm not sure what a runtime error. Any ideas would be appreciated Regards Danny
  5. Hi Kevin, I installed the product update and it worked for a day or so. Now I'm getting the same error message when I try to start IC. Regards Danny
  6. The hotfix seems to have worked Thanks Danny
  7. Hi, I keep getting the following error when I try to start IC9.0. Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files\IronCAD\9.0\bin\ironcad.exe This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information. I had this when I first installed IC9.0 about six months ago and had to re-install it. I'm using a Dell XPS Intel 2 core cpu t7400 @ 2.16GHz 2GB of Ram, 143GB hard drive with 122GB Free space. NVIDIA Geforce Go 7950 GTX Graphics Card I have'nt Installed anything lately and virus check is ok. Regards Danny
  8. Thanks Mike and Kevin I misunderstood what Kevin wrote. I tried it and it works great. cheers Danny
  9. Thanks Kevin, How do I level off the base of the wall. My 1 day training session didnt cover surfaces, so I'm still learning. Regards Danny
  10. Hi, I'm trying to draw a wall which is curved but also slopes down form right to left. I can draw the 3d guide curve but I keep getting a twist in the curved section. It starts off perpendicular to the base but ends up sloping inwards.(see attached). Also. How do I keep the base flat. Do I have to remove the overhang at the base or can I sweep the curve around two guide curves? Regards Danny Catlin roofs_heath_b.ics
  11. I didnt know about CTRL-TAB, Thanks. Its one of those intermitent faults. If I restart IronCAD it will be ok. It mainly happens after I've used it for along time. Because I draw mainly roof build ups (tiles, battens, rafters, etc) and pull out the individual parts I end up with a lot of open windows. I used to get this on version 8 as well. Danny
  12. Hi, I have got 4 scenes and 1 drawing open but only 1 scene and the drawing show up in the windows menu. Is there a reason for this. Its not to much of a problem but its a bit of a pain if I have to switch between windows. Danny
  13. Thanks Kevin that was exactly what I was looking for Regards Danny
  14. Hi Robert, The resolution is quite good on my machine but its the receiving end I think that has the problem. The problem is that if the same drawing is faxed several times the quality deteriorates. I generally try and use email as much as possible but not everyone has a computer on site. I find that if I change the font to something like Verdana it opens the numbers out so they are easier to read. In AutoCAD you can set your preferences up before you start drawing and use the same set of preferences time and again. I was wondering if you could do the same with IronCAD. If I could set the default font to Verdana I wouldn't have to go back over every drawing to change the font. Also, If I do an angular dimension, I cant change the precision by right clicking, clicking precision and changing the decimal place. I have to go through the properties menu. I'm just curious as to why I have to do it this way. It works ok with a straight dimension but not with angles. Regards Danny
  15. Hi, Is it possible to set the default font on a 2d drawing to something other than Ariel. I find that Ariel doesn't fax to well. 0's, 9's, 3's, 8's and 6's all look the same. I just find it is time consuming having to go back over a drawing just to change the font. Regards Danny
  16. Thanks Cary, I can see what I did now (or didnt do ) Regards Danny
  17. Thanks Cary, Can't open the file though Danny
  18. I take it I change it to ACIS via the options menu. I'll give it a go and let you know. Heres the file again. cheers Danny hr_pvc.ics
  19. Hi, I am trying to unfold a sheetmetal part after putting a cut across it but every time I unfold it I end up with an extra section that should not be there. I can draw the profile and do the cut but I can't unfold it properly. Hope you can help. Regards Danny hr_pvc.ics
  20. I have to put a 45 degree cut across a 150 dia tube to make a bend. Is it possible to draw this and unfold it so I can get a template to make the cut. I used to use radan and you could draw the tube, put the cut across it and split the tube up the middle and unfold it. Can I do the same with IronCAD. Regards Danny
  21. IK Thanks for that. Is there a way of locating the centres on an elipse. The reason for asking is that I have to facet a section around that sweep you so kindly sorted out for me earlier. The purpose of the drawing is to find the cut angle of each section. I have included a model of what I have done so far Regards Danny Rugby_Ball.ics
  22. IK, That's alot better thanks. Just one more question. Can you mirror a part? I found that if I draw a quarter of the elipse it comes out right but to make up the whole building I would have to mirror one of the parts. Regards Danny PS I keep forgetting about the time difference between here and the States
  23. This is what I am trying to achieve. I cannot dimension this in a 2d drawing the elipse has got a twist in it that should not be there. If you look at it from the top it doesn't look right let me know what you think. Danny Eliptical_building.ics
  24. Alex, I've probably explained this wrong. If you imagine a building eliptical in shape. That profile has to go around the roof edge at the eaves in 1metre sections (3ft ish). When I do the sweep for the elipse, it doesn't look right, so I need to check the dimensions. I also need to show the dims for the client. I will attempt to draw this and upload it later Its a bit hard to explain If you download the file on first message and imagine that on an eliptical path, that is the edge of the roof. The bullnose is going to be faceted around that section. sorry for the misunderstanding. Danny
  25. Hi IK, Thanks for the help with the elipse. Now that I can draw the path and the profile I have another couple of problems. My client has an eliptical building and I need to facet a bullnose section around it in 1metre sections. The purpose of the drawing is to get the quantities and the cut angles right. I am having problems with the scale because it is so big. (can't zoom out enough). I've attached a file with a bullnose section so you can see what I'm up against. How do I check that the elipse is right. I've tried dimensioning it off of a 2d drawing but I can't seem to pick up any lines. I was going to attach the sweep that I did but it keeps giving me errors when I try to open it. I'm not having a good day Regards Danny Bullnose_Fascia.ics
