The answer is yes but not by using the Unfold command. 1. Drop a custom profile onto a bend. 2. Right-click edit profile in the Flat. 3. Use the stock as reference to build the profile and finish. This works for the general bends and such. Cary On 8/22/2014 at 3:53 AM, dleczynski said: I did not know this function. it works great! My perfo attach. Cary OConnor
Are you trying to get the pattern to wrap to the top bend? I don't believe that operation is supported in the Edit in the Flat. However, in 2020, you can use the unfold bend. Add the shape and then refold and it will support that condition. Cary
jolizon590016
Yes. Something that Dariusz did. I was searching that you also did something on a square tube in the past. Or I am just getting old and rusty
Cary OConnor
It should work for a single shape in the profile. However, I don't believe multiple shapes are supported in that process. The Unfold/Refold in 2020 will handle that or sketched bend. Cary
AMEHRAEEN
Hi Why do you use loft for creating a cylinder? there are much better ways. - please use sheet metal catalog parts and change them to desire shape and size particularly for your problem use partial cone . - drag desire hole on final part and change its dimension and depth for making correct hole - use TRIBALL for moving holes to desire location . now use unfold command to make a plane sheet and Refold for vice versa. please always pay attention to limitations and capabilities of soft wares and capabilities of your brain to find a solution. JPAJERCHIN
Hmm. I see that drop a Custom profile onto a bend and edit profile in the Flat works pretty well But unfortunatelly - It does not work with the "Conic Stock" And so - if the customer needs to place pattern of holes to the flat and then fold them back up - then (with the Conick Stock) - I don't see any suitable solution. Do you have any advice/solution for "Conic Stock", please?
JPAJERCHIN
Next one issue - Custom profile onto a bend and edit profile in the Flat does not work - if you create pattern of holes. Summary: If you need to create pattern of holes on any bend - seems it is impossible. Hmm? Edited April 20, 2021 by JPAJERCHIN
JPAJERCHIN
I see - it is a long-therm problem. It seems IC is not suitable to work in sheet metal with the "perforated parts" in flat! Question: May we expect some progress in the future versions, please?
Cary OConnor
You can do this with the sketch bend but you would need to do a little work to get the line placement and radius for the bends. Here is an example where I started with a flat, area fill of holes with the pattern feature, then used the sketch bend over 6 bend lines. This is just to show the concept.
