dimensioning

If I have a blind hole (or thread) inside of a pocket what is the standard way to dimension the depth of this hole from the pocket or from the thickness of the material?

Example: If a part has one hole size drilled twenty times both in and outside of a pocket all holes drilled at one depth then you could use one depth for all of these but in the pocket that might not be correct if measured from the inside surface of the pocket. In that case you might need to add another dimension.
