mgajewski
Hi, Will the .xml customization files from IC 2011 work in IC 2012? Also - does IC2012 support the Space Mouse or other 3D mice? If so, which ones? Mark
IronKevin
The 2011 XML's cannot be used with 2012. You should be able to use any of the 3D devices from 3DConnexion http://www.3dconnexion.com/
mwalls558626
Mark, I use a Space Pilot, and a Space Pilot Pro in both versions. No problems, except for the always present Zoom speed issue. This just needs to be looked into more closely. It is kind of clunky with the zoom when you are close into the part. Needs to be smoother. David Thomas
In rhino the zoom speed slows down as you get closer into a part. This would be ideal for IC with a 3d mouse. The only problem with rhino is you sometimes cannot zoom in enough, the workaround is to fit the scene to the part your interested in. My issue with the 3d mouse is the rotation centre, it always seems not to be where i want it, I have slaved one of the buttons on the mouse to target the camera, but its not as nice as using the "2d" mouse and your pick point is the rotation centre. It does make me wonder why the rotation centre of a model is anywhere but the centre of the screen....
tlehnhaeuser
Yes, the zoom is a bit clunky in 2012, but not sure why, I think it may be a Hoops issue more than a 3DX issue becuase intially it worked fine and as time went on the sometimes choppy rotation developed. shameless plug: http://www.magnacad.com/3dx.html
