tlehnhaeuser
I know I posted this before, but cant find it. the new advance rendering doesn;t render bumps. Can someone provide a formula for it to do so? thanks Tom
Cary OConnor
Depends on what you mean by bumps. Bump maps or Displacement maps. We support bump maps but not displacement maps (which are real depth type renderings). Cary
tlehnhaeuser
Hi Cary dont know the difference. Basically I want the bump mapping IC always had. the only differnce I want the bumps on parts with no reflection. I have attached the desired render minus the bumps. FYI- I need to use full or color illumination settings. Tx tom
ysinitsyn
Need to turn on Visulisation -> Options -> Super-sampling -> Filtering = Bilinear or Bicubic. And you will see the bamps on the models. I use a "Bicubic" Edited October 19, 2011 by ysinitsyn
tlehnhaeuser
Thanks Yaroslav However, It doesn;t seem to work. I have attached the scene if anyone would like to attempt to add the image attached as a bump map to the cubes. thanks tom Binary_Cubes.ics
Mike Allen
You need to turn on at least one light in the scene. Then use an image shader for the bumps (Automatic UV) appears to work best. ICRender.bmp
tlehnhaeuser
Thanks Mike, I guess its the light on that plays the role. However by doing so I do not get the "flat" finish I'm looking for on the bumps. Hmmm, gonna have to play around abit. thanks for the insight. t
Mike Allen
I'm wondering - what would happen if you made the color of the scene light black? It's possible that the only requirement is that the light is on.
Mike Allen
Black doesn't work, but very dark gray does. Also, you have to turn off "Cast Shadows" for the light (bumps don't show up in the shadows.)
ysinitsyn
Another important moment. Need to turn off.
ysinitsyn
Tom, you have a complex of problems with this project . I feel, in Ironcad has a problem with 32 bit bump image. Try this file.

Guest EricFoy
Tom: Make sure you DESELECT "Ignore Bump Normals" in the Global Illumination tab. Just making sure... I haven't ever noticed the need to have a light on. Edited October 20, 2011 by EricFoy
