Bom Item Number Continuation

Is there a way to start the BOM Item numbering from a specified number? Despite vast improvements in CAD system performance, I still find that my system slows down too much when I try to put all details in one scene. It is often easier to put a "dummy part" in the system level layout. The "dummy part" is a part with all the external features, but none of the internal parts. If I want to make one master drawing of the assembly, I want the BOM to include all the parts that go into the "dummy part". I can mark the "dummy part" so it isn't included in a BOM based upon the system level layout. I can include a view created from the detail model of the part that was substituted with the "dummy". I can place a BOM for the model in that view. I'd like to start numbering the item numbers in this BOM where the system level BOM left off. That is, I want to make it a contiuation of the system level BOM (just as if it was a split BOM). How do I do that?

Thanks for your help.

I think I under stand what you are asking for. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer.

If you right-click on the BOM chart and select properties, there is a section on the bottom of the form to reference a custom BOM generator. There you will enter the info to a custom DLL that you must provide.

You will need to write a DLL in Visual Studio or another platform that supports COM Objects and reference in the IronCAD API's.

You can start by looking at the API documentation for IronCAD located in ICAPI folder of "Program Files\IronCAD...".

If I haven't scared you yet, let me know and I should be able to help get you pointed in the right path.
