We have been using the Hoops viewer with success. It allows others to easily open view & manipulate lightweight copies of very large 3D assemblies. The program works well and is very fast & easy use. Basic desktop computers seem to run this app fine.

Free Download at:

http://www.spatial.com/products/download.html

ACISHOOPSPartViewer1315_install.zip

To export from Ironcad:

Scene Browser: Select Part or Assembly

Under File Pick: Export Part

Select: Hoops Stream File (*.hsf)

Exported Ironcad 3d .pdf files opened in Adobe Reader 8 are not working so hot, yet....

The attached .hsf file is 1,048kb, the .ics file for it is 12X larger at 12,639kb.

FYI - Here's a small note that makes our PDF's much hotter smile.gif

* 3D PDF Support - IronCAD V10 supports the ability to export 3D PDF and U3D files from the IronCAD Scene. This capability allows users the ability to share and collaborate on their 3D Designs in a lightweight format. 3D PDF's can be used for visualization only or can be used for markup collaboration. Note: You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.1 installed in order to view IronCAD exported 3D PDF's. When you open a 3D PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.1, you may need to enable double-side rendering to view the models properly.

o Right-click in the 3D PDF background

o Select "3D Preferences".

o In the “Rendering Options”, select "Enable Double-Sided Rendering".

Double Sided sure helps!! (should be the default??). The .pdf file size is a bit bigger at 4,080KB ~4X the .hsf filesize.

Good news... I was able to "enable" my .pdf by opening in my old Adode 7.0 Professional (even though it was not visible) by selecting Document, then : Enable for commenting in Reader. See attached. The enabled 3D document can now be marked up in Adobe Reader 8 which is cool!!

Thanks Kevin!!

Yes we are working on the Double-sided issue. It is something that has to be changed on the Hoops facet. When they fix it, we can update our code so users do not need that option.

By the way...there are ways to embedd an HSF into a word document but it is not that easy. If you read the hoops documentation, you will find it.

Also, try the IronWeb publishing. It can do a lot of work for you. It will generate a HTML page, HSF files, and properties of the file. Start IronCAD, run the tool, point to a folder, and it will publish all the files in the folder.
