Automatic 2d Shape Creation

In version 9, IronCAD and Inovate allow you to create an extrusion directly off a face to add/remove material or create new parts using the surface perimeter edges as the geometry.

 

Well sometimes you want the geometry without modifying the part or creating a new part. Normally you would use the 2D shape tool and project the face edges to your 2D shape plane.

 

However, here’s a shortcut:

Select Face>Create>Extrude>Cancel

 

That’s it. You now have a perfect 2D shape to use as you would normally. Enjoy
