Chris Lohman
There is a growing issue with 5.2 crashing on *some* systems and our initial thought is that it's graphics related, and seems to occur only on systems running ATI graphics cards. (FireGL, Radeon, etc) Only two instances of this have been reported so far but that's two too many. So I'm placing the call out to all ATI owners.... Do you own an ATI card and if so, has 5.2 crashed and thrown exception errors or generated and exception log? If so, please let us know here and email the exception log to techsupport@ironcad.com. In addition to the exception log please send a system and display summary. To generate a system and display summary do the following: 1) Goto Start/Run 2) Type in msinfo32.exe then click ok 3) Right click on the "System Summary" folder and select "Save as text file" 4) Expand the "Components" folder 5) Right click on the "Display" folder and select "Save as text file" THANKS! jloach
Hi Chris My FireGL2 was causing freezes and crashes on Windows XP Pro. I switched back to Windows 2000 Pro, and haven't had a problem since. Runs perfectly. John
Chris Lohman
We're looking at instances where IronCAD actually crashes and creates exception logs. Actually the ATI theory was just blown away by a customer who is experiencing this problem and is running and ELSA card. Hmm, so it still seems to be graphics problems but not it seems more general, such as OpenGL. So if anyone has any exception logs and is crashing in 5.2 in general, please help us fix these by sending in those logs, your system summary, and any information on what you were doing when it crashed. (Also files that it crashed on if possible) On a side note: We just purchased a FireGL 2 to try to overcome some of these FireGL2 specific issues that are occuring. Rick Dorrington
We have noticed some unusual crashing. Thought it might be related to our (usually unstable) Cam. We have had the GL2 since version 4 with no problems. We will keep an eye on it and send you whatever develops.
Corey Cooper
Where are the error logs saved?
Chris Lohman
Corey it throws them into your user %TEMP% location. If it creates an error, it should popup a dialogue that points specifically to where the log is.
Corey Cooper
The reason I asked is IronCad crashed when I was closing a scene and it told me a log file was being generated, but it didnt tell me where.
Corey Cooper
I just e-mailed an exception error I just got, along with my system and display summary.
