Chris Lohman Posted April 9, 2002 Share Posted April 9, 2002 1608 Install Shield Error installing IronCAD 5.0 When attempting to install IronCAD, the install fails half way through with an InstallShield 1608 Error. The installation ceases. As you can see byt the dialogues, this is an InstallShield bug. InstallShield is the product that we purchase and use to package our product for installation. Now here's the fix (prepare to jump into the loony bin): This problem only exists on systems that are not connected to a network. If you install "Client for Microsoft Networks" on any of your network adaptors such as a nic, dsl card, or modem, reboot, then IronCAD will install. Something happens when you install Client for Microsoft Networks that puts the system into a state that makes InstallShield happy. IronCAD will then install.
