tlehnhaeuser
I tried to fins in help but couldn;t find. Could someone tell me the differences are between the manual overiddes "Number" and "String"? Tx Tom
Cary OConnor
Hi Tom, User Set Quantity (Number) is basically manually setting the quantity regardless of the number of links in the scene. The String setting allows you to enter a string and value like x 6 or Qty 6. Some use the String for things like Glue or other material items that you may represent in the scene with a 2D sketch that is empty. The BOM on the drawing will have controls how to handle different cases of course like linked and non-linked shapes with same names/part numbers. But the QTY is just a manual override. Hope that helps Cary
rsaucier
Cary, So is this a text string data entry field only and nothing to do with variables or calculations that it can be used for? RJ
Cary OConnor
RJ - What is the intent? To be able to calculate a user set quantity based on some other variable? Is it really the QTY you are after or a custom property? You can use the parameters to create a variable driven custom property. Currently the QTY User Set is not setup to use Formulas. tlehnhaeuser
Thanks Cary, I dont fully understand the string - What would be a practical purpose for this? Tx Tom
tlehnhaeuser
You know, once in awhile if you stop working, take a shower, go to bed, wake up and get a cup of coffee, all the worlds answers appear to you. So I now know the practical use for this. Ignore my question.
