ICD shaded rendering requiring more file size when printed to pdf

Hi all,

Since upgrading IC UPdate 1, I notice that if I have any shaded renedering in ICD, even if it's just a simple part, when I print to PDF ( via microsoft pdf print ) the file is enormous. I just completed a 12 sheet drawing which has 1 part per page shaded. before shaded, the 12 page pdf file size was 632 kb. After shading 1 part per page BOOM - 26mb!

What's changed or has the update forced a setting change withinmy IC that does this.  Prior to update I would have expected that 'shaded pdf' to be about 6mb tops.

Cheers,

Harley

  • HDEAR changed the title to ICD shaded rendering requiring more file size when printed to pdf

Thanks Kevin. I used to use 'Cute-Pdf' some years ago - I'll try it again.

I was puzzled though why the file size suddenly increased after Update 1.

Yes the PU1 changed to handle Raster and Vector properly. You can try to set it to raster only to see if it reduces the file size. But adding shaded views will increase the size since it has to create a raster image at the size of the sheet. Vector is the smallest but does not suppot the shaded views.

We print at least front, top, side and shaded rendered isometric view for most of our drawings and have found that if you set the Shaded view to Quick instead of draft, the printing performance is improved greatly, it can take a printout from 65mb down to 2mb.
