Corey Cooper
Is there any way to import a native Unigraphics file? And if not is there any plan to include a translator in a future release? I work with a few customers who use it and would like to be able to import it into IC instead of having to make them convert to a format that IC supports. Guest dlalonde
Parasolid is the kernel that unigraphics uses! I've had excellent results with .x_t files to/from unigraphics.
Corey Cooper
Thanks dlalonde, I'll try that.
tlehnhaeuser
I know That Unigraphics and Solid Edge even though are part of the same company share data between them by using the Parasolid format and are able to maintain associativity. This should work for IronCAD as well I would assume.
Guest dlalonde
I should have mentioned that you have to choose the right parasolid version for both applications or it only works in one direction. Yes same kernel but they're probably passing the models back and forth in some higher descriptive form, kinda like transmitting sheet music notes instead of sending the whole recording. Robert Andersson
Regarding the .X_T format, UG seams to use Parasolid version 13.2.2 and IronCAD 13.2.0 Usually you will only see the first 13.2 label on the X_T files. Soo, UG users should save as 13.2.00 .X_T files, or older. Imported .X_T files vill stay as Parasolidparts nomatter what your default kernel is. Same goes for SAT and ACIS, SAT files will stay as ACIS parts. Robert Andersson
