Mike Allen
Has anyone experienced catalogs spontaneously going away? We have a user here who has to reload some or all of his catalogs at least once a day. He notices that the catalogs are missing when he starts IronCAD, so it doesn't look like they are disappearing while the program is running. But he gets no notification, such as a message saying the IC can't find the catalogs. Any ideas?
IronKevin
We are investigating why this might happen. I believe we keep a list of open catalogs in the Windows Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IronCAD\IRONCAD 20.0\LangDependent\en-us\Scene Catalogs and there is a count value that determines how many on that list are open. The next time this happens please check that Registry key and see if there are some missing or if the count isn't high enough to include them all. If so, thats your problem. T
Mike Allen
We went to cloud storage a few months back, but this only seems to be affecting one person (out of at least 9 people who use catalogs on a regular basis.)
IronKevin
Mike, What type of cloud storage are you using?
Mike Allen
I think it's Sharefile.
IronKevin
Can you export the Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IronCAD\IRONCAD 20.0\LangDependent\en-us\Scene Catalogs and send me the .reg file (you will probably have to zip it or the email will block it as a dangerous attachment). Mike Allen
File sent.
IronKevin
Didn't get it, did you send to support@ironcad.com? It might have been blocked in which case you can send via www.wetransfer.com
Mike Hatch
Yes. It is happening to us quite regularly since we installed 2018 SP1 not seen on 2017. I can have a number of catalogs opened during use and they work fine, finish the job and close down. Next time IC is loaded all the catalogs may or may not be there, or some may be there with others missing. Not found any defining factor yet but could be related to adding a new item to a catalog, re-arranging it and closing down. All our catalogs are local to the machine, not on the cloud or a server. Registry Key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IronCAD\IRONCAD 20.0\LangDependent\en-us\Scene attached here. Cary OConnor
Do you have multiple instances of IronCAD running or just a single instance? Cary
Mike Allen
As far as I know, our guy only runs one instance of IC.
Mike Allen
This just happened again, by closing & reopening IronCAD. I sent the registry file to support through wetransfer. The user also lost his status bar in the scene. He said he wasn't doing anything in particular before closing IC & there was only one instance open. IronKevin
Thanks Mike, We are still investigating this.
IronKevin
We have a hotfix for this problem. Please first make sure you have 2018PU1SP1 installed. Then, unzip an copy the attached DLL file to C:\Program Files\IronCAD\2018\bin 3iba31.zip
Mike Allen
Thanks, Kevin. We'll have to get someone from our IT department to install the dll. I'll let you know if it works. The user hasn't noticed the issue in several days, so it might be hard to tell.
Mike Allen
We have installed the DLL. I will let you know if we see any more disappearing catalogs.
