Exporting model

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I have a customer who wants a model of one of my machines, but obviously I am not interested in handing out too much information and too many details. He needs the model to be able to fit my machine into a larger build.

Is there a way in which I can provide him with a model with general dimenstions without supplying him with my whole model. A sort of "shelled" model maybe?

If it is relevant, he prefers stp-format.

Best regards

Bjørn

This can be tricky.

You want to let the customer work with your assy but the customer should not have all info so they can take over the project and manufacture them self...

Tricks that may help could be:

-Select multiple surfaces of your assembly solids (light in green) and RMB and select CREATE SURFACE MODEL

The surfaces should be the important ones especially the connecting and bordering ones and those that are needed for the looks.

Use SHIFT click or BOX select or a combo of those.

Export the resulting single surface part as a STP and send to the customer.

-Do a boolean of all the parts in the assy. They then become one single part. This makes it a little harder to use.

Export the resulting part as a STP and send to the customer.

-Scale the assy with a random scale factor (hehe)

-Export a facet model like STL

  • 3 weeks later...

Other solution:

1. Assembly - Create Part

2. Confirm the message to set new part as active

3. Feature - Copy Body

4. Selct the bodies, or parts, ...etc

Finally you get one part with Brep items (previously parts of assembly)
