Link along curve

I am trying to copy or link a pattern along a curve, but when I do the fist instance starts at half the distance of the specified copy distance, which then offsets all of the patterned instances.

Any ideas on other methods to achieve this, It's holding up production on a part I need to make so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Brent.

Here is quick workaround for your problem. I do not have time to elaborate more smile.gif..

Idea is to make separate 3D curve to drive your linked/copied instances...

Your "middle" problem is that your curve is cutout by cylinder... There is no need to place "master" shape to start position for "link/copy along currve" with triball.

Pattern feature with Edge Pattern+Offset start (IC2016) will do job also.

I think I would use the Pattern Feature tool and use the Edge Pattern option for this.

You can suppress the source and control where it starts/ends etc.

Yes, I just edited my post. smile.gif

I assume he do not have latest version of IC or he need specific reason to use triball.

Thanks for the tips, they both are really helpful. I actually do have the newest Ironcad, i just did not know about the pattern feature along edge feature. I love when i learn about a new feature of the software!

edit: I actually ended up using the first method because the pattern feature along edge changes the spacing along the edge but the extracted curve keeps it consistant
