Hi Joseph,
I know SolidWorks is the odd duck with Y as the height axis.
What I'm actually confused about is the way IC rotates the camera when starting a sketch 'On X-Y Plane', 'On Y-Z Plane' etc.
* In SolidWorks, when I start a sketch on the front plane (XY in SW) or right plane (YZ in SW), the height axis (Y in SW) always points upwards.
* In IRONCAD, when I start a sketch on the front plane (Z-X in IC), the height axis (Z in IC) points upwards. When I start a sketch on the right plane (Y-Z in IC), the Y axis (and not the height axis) points upwards.
To me, this is confusing behavior.
Do you get what I mean?
Maybe attached video fragments help to explain. In the first video I show how IC rotates the view when starting a sketch on default planes. In the second video I show how SW handles view orientation when doing basically the same thing.
So in short, I'm confused because:
in IC, when I start a sketch on Z-X plane the Z axis points upwards, BUT when I start a sketch on Y-Z plane the Y axis points upwards.
(In SW, when I start a sketch on the front or right plane the Y axis ALWAYS points upwards.)
