I am curious for feedback from users that do a lot of sheet metal detailing. There are two schools of thought. the first is to detail each part on its own sheet, and the other is to put a lot of sheet metal parts on a single sheet. My preference has always been one part per sheet. I am curious what other users are doing and what they think pros and cons are of each idea. RJ

Kevin, I do not see that folder. Do I need to create the "FastenerData" folder manually and then place the files in there? Please advise. RJ

Brent, R&D is aware of this and is addressing the cause. In the meantime, it is due to the item bubble making the master BOM the priority. A few work arounds are to either delete the master BOM and use the "associate to view" for the master sheet as well. Then each sheet will work correctly. Or the other option is to have the master in its own file. RJ

CPHARRIS, Would you provide a copy of the finished part that you did in Fusion360 so we can see the part you tried to build in IronCAD? RJ

Change the kernel to ACIS if it is parasolid. I do a lot of sheet metal and have had the same issue. There is a known issue with parasolid creating the double lines that is being addressed in the 2017 release. That said, I have had zero double line issues using the ACIS kernel for all my sheet metal parts.

Pretty slick Cary. Also, and support may want to investigate if it is a bug, but the reason the last side would not work is the corner where you will weld is touching. If you take .001" off of it, you will see you can get all 4 sides. but still have the issue with the last corner not being mitered. So I like Cary's idea but wanted to add why the last side did not work in case a similar issues pops up in another area. Add_Miter.wmv

Connect Keyboard to a command in IRONCAD
rsaucier replied to Robert Andersson's topic in Tips and Tricks
I do a lot of large assemblies with parts several levels deep. As such, I use the CTRL-Left mouse click a lot to drill directly down to parts. I have set mine up so that CTRL-Space Bar hides selected. CTRL-ALT-SpaceBar hides unselected, and Shift-space bar shows all. Since i am already holding down the CTRL key to drill directly to parts, I can very quickly hide series of parts across multiple sub-assemblies. This set up has been a major time saver when in those large assemblies. -

Tom, May I call you? This is very detailed and I would love to assist. I have manufactured over 10,000 sheet metal parts in IronCAD with ZERO errors. RJ -

Hello, (Support ID# 106406). I am not sure if I understand exactly what you are looking to do. Please see attached example. Is your goal to project this style roof as an image? Thanks RJ IronCAD support. Plyta.ics

Difficult to dimension the drawing
rsaucier replied to Bjorn Andersson's topic in General Discussion
This has been filed and is under investigation. I have been waiting for examples from users and to date have not received any. Can you please send your ics and icd files to support@ironcad.com so I can add to the support information? It is very much appreciated. Thanks RJ IronCAD support -
Changing ics file name with linked icd files
rsaucier replied to HDEAR's topic in General Discussion
As an additional note, if you have already renamed your ICS and ICD files, you can open the ICD, do a "CTRL" "SHIFT "L" and change the link and point to the renamed ICS file. Thanks RJ -
In your scene browser, right click on the section tool in the scene tree and change to precise mode. That will give you what you are looking for. Thanks RJ

Hello, If you are referring to the steel frames catalog, currently we do not support adding custom profiles. It has been discussed adding this to a future release but at this point there is nothing definite in regards to a specific release. Thanks RJ IronCAD Support

I have a customer that is wanting to learn more about using lofting for wings and fuselages on aircraft. Before I reinvent the wheel, I was wondering if anyone had some good examples that I could look at and study. Much appreciated in advance for any help. Thanks RJ

Good afternoon, I went all the way back to 2011 and did not see where we had that functionality. I do agree that this would be a convenient option so I filed an enhancement request for this with R&D. Please refer to file# 105641. Thanks RJ

Good afternoon, After reviewing the mode, I do have a few questions. The first is, is there a particular reason that you developed the part as a structured part rather than an inovative part? The way the part is currently designed, it is going to be very difficult to set the parameters. As an example, the second cylinder is currently tied directly to the face of the tenth pattern feature. So even if you increase the number of features to 15, the additional 5 are going to run over the top of the cylinder. Not that it can not be done, but will require additional constraints that could affect the desired result. If you were to create this as an inovative part, it would be much easier to parameterize and get the results that you are looking for. I look forward to your thoughts. Thanks RJ

Good afternoon, If I could get a few more details about what the starting part will be, what exactly will be adjusted, and what the desired outcome that is expected when the adjustment is made, I believe that I can assist with directing you how to make this happen. If you do not mind, please send any information to support@ironcad.com and we will be glad to help. Thanks RJ
