  1. Bad thing is I am no closer to having an answer for my customer on how to make this.
  2. Thanks Cary, Any chance you could do a short video to show those steps. Your steps lost me... lol. RJ
  3. Anyone have any tips how to make these fins? It would be greatly appreciated. RJ
  4. I wanted to put this out there before I send into IronCAD. But I had a potential new customer very confused by these items. Considering we have the steels in the tool catalog, does anyone use these? My thought would be to remove them to eliminate confusion. Looking forward to everyones thought. RJ
  5. Just throwing my two cents in here, but our undo could use some enhancing. 1) Undo works on about half of the commands. 2) Would be really nice if it did not reset after a save or save as. Thanks for listening. RJ
  6. Cary, I noticed this as well. It appears turning that setting off did fix that issue. At least as far as I can tell so far. RJ
  7. You can also go to the "Edit feature options", change to "Add Material". Move the tri-ball to the desired location, and then go back to the "Edit Feature options" and change back to remove material. It may not be as quick, but I have used these steps for other things once I learned it was there. RJ
  8. That expanded metal is brilliant. Thank you for sharing that with everyone. Now if we could get that to transfer over to the drawing, we would have it made... Hint hint Cary... lol RJ
  9. This has always been a tricky one. Kind of wish IronCAD would enhance both corner reliefs and press bend reliefs. Have you seen this video. It is very interesting and I just learned about this ability a few months ago although it is a little tricky to learn. I am also attaching a short video showing how to quickly add a relief without using the dialogue box. I hope these help you. RJ BendRelief.mp4
  10. Using this new feature on a sheet metal laser/brake catwalk and this tool has been amazing. RJ
  11. I have a customer that rolls a lot of tank cylinders. Because of the process of how tanks are rolled, you will always have a flat spot on the front and back of the plates due to the distance between rolls before the material "catches" both rolls. To eliminate the flat spots in the tanks, they add extra material when cutting the tank wall, roll the tank, and then cut the flats off to have a perfectly round cylinder. He would like the option to add stock to the flat pattern and have it remembered. Currently, you can add stock, but as soon as the scene updates, the added stock is lost. So I have two questions. 1) Is anyone else using this same process and would find it helpful for IronCAD to "remember" adding stock to the unfolded part. 2) Does anyone currently have a work around other than modifying the exported dxf? It is important that if a change is made to the tank, the flat would still update and retain the additional length. Also, the work around would be fine in icd and does not necessarily have to be in the scene. Any help or thoughts will be greatly appreciated. RJ
  12. Thanks Darius, Do you have the original ics file? I am going to redo in English. I do appreciate it. RJ
  13. Does anyone know of a really good animation tutorial video for a new customer? Thanks in advance. RJ
  14. Hi Harvey, Another option could be to move the clip that is welded to the door from the latch assembly to the door and then just select the option to not include the clip in the BOM. That way the clip moves with the door and you still have your latch as one item in the BOM. I hope I explained that correctly. RJ
  15. How did you update? I have version 1703 and when I run the check for updates, it says I have the latest. Im confused... which lately doesnt take much...
  16. Thought I would share something I just learned for those that use parameters and may not know about this quick conversion feature. It is common when using parameters to need to convert a scalar value to either inches or an angle for a formula. I used to manually figure the conversion number until I figured this out. Hope it helps someone. Any one else have a tip or trick on parameters they have learned over the years? RJ
  17. I have a customer trying to parameterize a hopper. The constants are the top and bottom opening and the 40 degrees as seen in the drawing. Research on the internet has not been any help. Does anyone know the formula to determine the length of the diagonal seam. I have been told it involves using the cosine function but I am having no luck finding it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. RJ
  18. I was wondering if any one is aware of customers that are doing this in IronCAD. I know that we do not have these specific tools but wanted to know if any companies have methods in which they still use IronCAD to perform these functions. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. RJ
  19. Robert, That is what I thought as well, but did not know which one to use or what parameters to input. How did you get the one shown in the picture. I entered the values as shown in the snapshot, but got a way different result. Also, I did not see the Archimedes Spiral-RA on my list. Could that be part of it? I am very appreciative of your help. Thanks RJ
  20. Tom, That would be OK except that I need it to have a smooth transition so as it goes around the radius, it smoothly gets further from the center point. It is not a consistent radius. But that was pretty good thinking. I had not thought about that. thanks for the input.
  21. Hoping someone a lot smarter than me might be able to help with this. Attached is a rough image of what I need to accomplish. Basically connecting the two points like a cam might be. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance. RJ
  22. Also check this setting. I am not sure what has happened in the world of computers, but I had two customers in the last week, been running without problems and all of a sudden having issues with panning and zooming. Both customers switched from OpenGL to DirectX, problem solved.
  23. Two Options: 1) You do not have the "part Number" field populated. The default option for BOM's to determine quantities is by the part numbers. If you populate that feild, you will get your desired result 2) Change the option in the BOM properties to "All Columns". (I have not used this option myself but think that may give you what you are looking for) My preference has always been option 1.
