  1. To a local folder - C:\Users\Mike.Hatch\Downloads\Documents\IRONCAD 2019\Backup The working files are in - C:\D\Local_Working\_Working\Jobs for Graham\Uniphy Ltd Files up to version -24 of this job were being saved then they stopped, about the same time (possibly ?) the error message started popping up. Service pack 1 installed,
  2. The attached ics file will not display on screen. It has all the content in the scene tree and I can export a step file and re-import that which does display. It displays a muggled preview in Win10 Explorer but on loading all I see is the rotating loading icon, previously it was displaying, then it stopped mid editHSS126301-34.ics.
  3. Boolean subtract with a with a Cylinder (not H Cylinder) of appropriate size.
  4. Having said all was fine, it seems that the auto backups have stopped. I do a manual save with added -1, -2, -3 to the filename, usually once a day, over and above regular saves during the day. This backups stopped at -24, design is now at -32, so about a week ago backups stopped. I would say possibly about the same time the warning dialog started but that's just supposition. IC2019, V21 PU1, 64bit build 15921, 2019-04-09
  5. I'm getting an occasional warning dialog on saving a design, see attached file, other than that all seems to be fine. "SmartDimension highlight" with a backup file path.
  6. I've had a similar problem, see this thread - http://community.ironcad.com/index.php?sho...715entry49715 - there is apparently a fix for it there but I've not had a chance to try it yet. Mike.
  7. We are a small specialist electro-mechanical company with two seats and have used IronCAD for 10 years. Models are a breeze with the ICD environment for production and assembly drawings. ICD has a few issues (dimensioning holes on draft or cylindrical faces being one) but not that we would not use it. We do not use the Caxa environment for new designs but fall back to it for all of our old AutoCAD files that go back some 35 years, for this it is also pretty much seamless with its AutoCAD feel. Both seats are on local relatively high speed PC's and video cards but not blisteringly good. Storage is on the network for both drawings and catalogs but intermediate work is local with around 1-2K parts max. Speed is not an issue but I have noticed (for me) that speed on laptops can occasionally be clunky.
  8. So I'm using an outdated catalog ?, I've been using the wrong catalog ?, nice that someone has told us, gives us problem with the last 10 years of drawings and models then doesn't it. We are now in the position of wanting this model - - but only able to have one or the other of these - . So if I want the treatments available in the "older" METALS catalog to be available and working correctly as METAL does, how do we accomplish this ?. To use a politicians phrase from our very unfortunate current Brexit fiasco - "Let me be clear" - we want the model above - gold pins, aluminum panel, silver filter, coloured wires, cloudy white crimp colours - essentially the assembly I have here in my sticky little mitt - - to magically appear in an .icd production drawing. WYSIWYG And another curious anomaly - why does the model shift position between draft and quick leaving the item bubbles hanging in space. Frustrated from the UK.
  9. Hi, Proof that the metals.icc catalog is broken in IC2019 with shaded rendering in "quick" mode. The attached files have four catalogs - metals, metal, surfaces, textures - rendered in both "quick" and "draft" modes. It points to some problem with the "metals.icc" catalog contents. In those files there are also two special test cases of - items copied from "metal" into "metals" and then used, they render correctly items copied from "metals" into "metal" and then used, they - do not - render correctly in quick mode. I also tried creating a new catalog and applied the two special cases above with the same results. In case the problem resides with old files, residues or anomalies from previous installations on my machine I have done a fresh install 30 day trial on a laptop that has never seen IronCAD at a totally remote location. The shaded rendering problem occurs on this new installation. catalog_test.icdCatalog_test.ics Mike.
  10. The 2019 "Metal.icc" catalog works as expected. "Metals" catalogs from 2016 and 2017 exhibit the same shaded rendering problem. Attached are files treated from "Metal.icc". Drawing1.icsDrawing1.icd
  11. Tools/options/rendering/render options/software is greyed out - presumably the graphics card is detected so the option is removed. The card is an NVIDIA Quadro M2000 4Gb, Display 1920x1080. I'll come back to one of my earlier comments (Jan 18) that the problem appears related to the Metals.icc catalog and that it appeared between IC2018 & IC2019, confirmed with the original (ics & icd) files by Blake Staff on the 11th Jan. Items treated from "Metals.icc" Eg Rear panel, D connector pins and body, RJ11 connector pins, are rendered as shades of grey in "quick" and true in "Draft". Other items treated from "Colors" and "Plastic" are true in "quick". If I treat the rear panel and/or other parts with something from say the "Surfaces", "Texture" or, "Stone" catalogs they all render correctly in "quick". Anything treated from metals.icc - fire, gold, chromy, brass - metals with a defined striking appearance - all come out grey. Perhaps my metals.icc catalog is corrupted ?. Mike. Attached .ics & .icd files for anyone to play with. Drawing1.icd Drawing1.ics
  12. Hi, I'm getting really ticked off with this now. I've tried lights, lots of them, I can see the effects of moving the lights around, and obtain a reasonable view, so - This is an inside view in ics - Outside view in the model - And this in the icd file - - is not what the model shows me. What I see in the model (ics) views is what I expect to see in the drawing file and did so up to 2019. An example of a much simpler previous jobs on 2018 - The model - and the drawing - No lights, just complete the model and place a standard view. As you may deduce I'm somewhat annoyed. "From Blake Staff - We downloaded the files, and see the same differences in the shaded renderings."
  13. I've not been able to get time on this problem currently as product has to go out the door. However I have found the prints we made when we had 2018 and 2019 running together, see attached. 5685_a___SM9892_MASC_5A_assemblies_2018.pdf 5685_a___SM9892_MASC_5A_assemblies_2019.pdf Both were made - without - lights, view them side by side and the differences are obvious. There are internal part changes as the design evolved but its the general look, the 2018 file represents what we have had up to the change to 2019, all with no lights.
  14. Lights is not something that we have ever used on any design in 10 years, on the basis of, the results we get are fine for what we need, so don't complicate matters. The only third party tools we have used in IronCAD is the free version of pdfcreator - https://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator - for printing to a file. I come back to – it worked in 2018 but does not in 2019 – so something has changed. Unless it was just lucky it worked, but again, something changed. Regards, Mike Hatch
  15. But the "Re-display hidden Part" does not seem to work. The annular gear to item 3 is hidden, clicking "Re-display hidden Part" shows the part in red, as it did when I hid it, accepting the command does not bring it back.
  16. With the SmartMotion Editor open and dragging the % slider to adjust the display, I've had IronCAD crash and burn back to the desktop several times. I've no handle on a chain of events to cause this as yet.
  17. Hi, Setting "Lap" for a part reverses the motion of that part halfway through the animation. The apparent speed of a "Lap" part is doubled, so all parts must be set to set to "Lap" to maintain the animation integrity. The same applies to "Repeats" at different rates for the repeat #. I realise these are time are "time effects" and Dr Who has shown these can be quite anomalous, but should not Lap and Repeat be global ?, having set up an example such as the gearbox (file in this thread), setting a Lap and/or Repeat for one part breaks the overall animation. Back to the question, by loop, I mean set it off and have it run continuously (loop back to the start at the end). Not start, get to the end and reverse back as "Lap" does. So another button in time effects ? Loop or Cont (continuously). I guess this may be particular to circular motions, but then our industry is motors, gearboxes and encoders, stuff that just goes round all the time (cat watching the washing machine comes to mind). We occasionally do linear slides as well, so there "Lap" is useful too.
  18. Is there a way to loop an animation ? IP57_animation.ics Mike
  19. Nice one ! A few of caveats. 1) Change diameter - two size boxes appear. Change via the H Cylinder sizebox maintains the relationships, change via the Shaft sizebox does not, at least it this is what happens for me. Do a change via the Shaft sizebox breaks the relationship, but then a successive change via the H Cylinder sizebox will bring it back correctly into line. As they are close together in the example model picking the wrong one is easy. 2) Undo [CTRL Z] - for diameter changes with H Cylinder sizebox does NOT undo correctly. for positional moves does undo correctly. So a couple of be wary notes, but a very nice example for future use.
  20. We had seen a similar problem in previous versions, usually only on parts with very thin sections with the underlying part bleeding through. In this instance however the tapped hole artefacts prompting this post have wall thickness of over 3mm. Here the thinnest label (right most) has lines This is the print preview. Our output of choice is PDFcreator - https://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator thinprinted.pdf with windows Print Screen into Print Shop for images in manuals.
  21. The machine is not new and did previously have 2018 on it, and was then updated to 2019, by down loading from the IC site, installing and adding in our 2019 registration keys. The "show bold edges" hotfix was added later, but not SP1. At this stage 2019 appeared OK, barring the "shaded render" problem. Some days later the "Insert Standard View" was noticed on a wholly new .ics - .icd drawing set, ie not an older drawing set from IC2018 where we use our standard drawing blanks. This drawing was created from "File - new drawing" which opened up one of your defaults, the A2 size. Everything was deleted to leave a blank sheet to create on as none of our usual info from one of our standard drawing blanks was required. (Our blanks have a few settings in the properties to auto insert dates, names, titles, project and sheet numbers on each page.) SP1 was tried, still the same, so an uninstall - reinstall was performed following info from the UK reseller. This cured the problem, although some settings seem to be retained, I usually have to reallocate the menus after a yearly update, not this time the uninstall left some bits behind ?. My machine has admin privileges, the 2018-2019 upgrade and the re-install done by me with admin rights. As we are now Ok this is just really for your info.
  22. File uploaded here, the effect is related to the viewed angle and zoom, the file attached as it is shows the artifacts when printed, if the view is rotated or zoomed the artifacts change in severity. They correspond the tapped holes in the "Front plate" corresponding to the "Side plate" names in the scene tree. Running IC2019 SP1. 5211_a___30001455_assembled.ics Mike
  23. We had a problem with inserting a Standard View on new icd files in 2019, not present in files previously created in 2018. We could go through the process of Standard View Creation, selecting the part, views, and setting the view direction, with the preview window showing the desired part view. On clicking "OK", the set up window cleared back to the drawing but nothing appeared, no outline boxes allowing for positioning, nothing. This did not happen on old drawing created on IC2018. We were on IC2019 with the "show bold edges" hotfix, but without SP1. SP1 was tried and problem persisted. Following advice from the UK reseller we did a full reinstall which fixed the problem. So essentially we are OK and working but this is for information.
