  1. WE are currently trying to create a very large Assembly Animation and would like to know if anyone knows how to speed up the process. We have tried to export to .wrl files and import them but I think we have a bad file. We are currently try to create "lightweight" parts. Does anyone know what the ULTIMATE settings are to create extreme facet models? Thanks Tom LAB_1_Guide Base.zip

  3. Wim Heres the site used..Tom http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/vehicles.asp
  4. The truck form 3Dcafe was a 3DS file. IronCAD not only brough in this file 100% BUT it recognized all the cameras, lights, decals, and colors used to create the 3DS file. I didn't realize how well IronCAD reads 3DS files. I am so excited!
  5. Thanks Guys, This worked out well. Attached is an image of how it worked out.
  6. Does anyone have a Tractor-Trailer 3D model file That I can use. Even If I have to import is OK. Any will do, even if simple representation. Any help is appreciated.
  7. I am curoius to know where the Catalog Sets and the Fastener Settings that we have saved settings for are stored. I would like to back them up to disk in case the computer blacks out and also as a safety measure when installing updates, Any help is appreciated. Tom
  8. Does anyone know how to create a table in IronCAD's 2D drafting environment? As a workaround I used the BOM function and filled in the cells as needed, but I cannot seem to remove the "Column Headers" row. I can clear the cells but not remove them. Any help is appreciated. Tom

  10. What type of training materials do you perfer the BEST? (question submitted for LIICON forum)
  11. Do you encounter "jagged" arcs in your 2D drawing. Well to clean or "smooth" them out, simply go to the 3D scene and change the smoothness of you part either higher of lower, it doesn;t matter as long as it is physically changed. R/C part - part properties - Rendering Tab - Change Surface Smoothness. Then update your drawing. Thats it. See image below. arc1t.tif
  12. Does Anyone know how to "order" views in 2D environment so as views can be manipulated either " on top" or " behind each other. Currently I have a dense drawing with many views and when I wish to edit a particular view I must first move the view that is " on top" of it before I can access its porperties sheet. I ultimately would have all my detail views " on top"of larger views (ie Front, side etc...) Any help is appreciated. Thanks Tom
  13. I at least glad to see SolidWorks eat some crow. Even if it was from Inventor. I think with IronCAD we could have beat both by far in this shootout. We could have even took time to go to the bathroom and still win.
  14. Does anyone have a Catia V4 (not V5) file that I can use. I would like to use it in a demonstration of Inovate how we import the Catia file and export as ather formats. You can email it to Tom@magnacad.com Thanks for the help in advance. Tom
  15. You can select Parts/Assys according to their name without use of shift by First select a part/assy. In my case I pick Pancake Cylinder then just use the first letter of the Part/Assy to multiple select (P) . Then you can just continue to use the first leeteres to select. In my case I picked I for Idler Gear Assy. Using the shift key while typing first leeter of name acts as a deselect tool. This is invaluable for simply geting to a part/assy in a large assembly without having to scroll thru entire scene browser. SB1.bmp
  16. I'm a bit thick on this subject. The overall purpose of zebra surfaces is to detect continuity to INDIVIDUAL surfaces..right? The stripe must therefore have a consistant pattern on EACH surface. The below image shows that all the surfaces are correct because the stripes are constant on EACH surface. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  17. X-cellent!!! X-cellent!!! X-cellent!!! Asytreeexport1.bmp
  18. Does anyone know if there is way that IronCAD can how many parts are in the current Scene?
  19. I have heard other apps boasting of ZEBRA tracing. Isn't thatg the same as just dragging a line image from our abstract catalog onto surface and setting to NATURAL? Can anyone debate this?
  20. I have recently came across with a GREAT trick. I had inadvertenly left "transfer dims to drawing" on all the fasterners I brought into my large assembly (Approx. 750 parts). When I created the 2D assy print. It was cluttered with all the transferred dimensions. We'll everyone will tell you that you must HIDE each one separartly. Well I mind as well put a bullet in my head. Anyway, heres a great trick I stumbled on to HIDE all of them in one shot. TIP: 1. Create a new layer (I named it "transferred") and then set it so its visibilty is OFF. 2. Use Box select tool and highlight ALL the dims. 3. Right Click on any dim and hit DELETE. (it doesn't, but watch this) 4. Do another Box select and highlight all the dims again. Right click on any dim, but this time a properties option pops up , then go to LAYER tab and pick your new layer you've created. Whallah!! You can get them back the std way by Right click on view and click SHOW ALL. Hope this helps. Tom
  21. Steve, Heres an old topic with an image as I discrobed..Tom http://www.ironcad.com/support/community/index.php?showtopic=1869
  22. We have done this routinely and it works great. You can also use copies of the 2D shape with the imported AC data and create 3D parts from it. This works great for Electro-Mechanical companies using IronCAD/Inovate. A nice TIP is you can change your background color to green with the 2D dxf/dwg file and export image to use as a decal on the actual PCB outline 3D model for outstanding realism. I think also there is a program under "Custom Stuff" that will generate the 3D files directly from .brd and .idf files from the PC Design app. Tom
  23. Thanks Chris, I appreciate all the help on this issue. When I am done with my Engine Animation. I will send you a copy. Tom
