  1. I love Drag Racing! and look forward to seeing the new IronCAD speed demon take over Europe even if I am in the USA. Good Luck to the Leander Bros and IC for 2003 season Maybe there will be a way to see videos if if short mpegs?
  2. mmcall, I am using 6.0 and are very happy. Thanks for the input it is very helpful. As you stated, I have decidied that in order to maintain any irregular shaped edges that you would use sketch-based techniques as opposed to drag-n-drop techniques and therefore could edit at any time in the cross section. For Instance, the irregular edge I would change wall cross-section to have ALL the fillets, angles etc. in one cross-section. Thanks Tom
  3. The image shows some questions that had come up at a recent user group meeting. Any feedback is welcomed.
  4. WE are looking for a CADKEY wireframe model that we can bring into IronCAD for demo purchases. Our object to show someone how to convert CADKEY wireframe to an IronCAD 3D sheetmetal part. Any help is appreciated. Please send file to tom@magnacad.com Thanks
  5. Hi Kev I tried it but no luck. I will have to wait and see if a Loft with Guide Curve will be in any future releases. Thanks anyway for all the help.
  6. Would you attend night time IronCAD/Inovate Training classes?
  7. Thanks Kevin, I'll give it a shot
  8. So thats what its called - Loft along 3D guide curve...huh. I second the motion. Or like I stated early in thread...maybe use regular sweep but have option to have cross-section be fixed to a point in the scene. See image prposed menu. sweepmenu.bmp
  9. Hi Kevin. I tried that approach but its not giving me the end result needed. Below is an image that depicts what I need. Any more ideas are welcomed. sweep2.bmp
  10. It seems that if you use ctrl s to save from the keyboard you get an error message saying it could not find the folder. If you click save from the menu it's fine. Anyone else experience the same? MDIC - Whitney
  11. Actualy what I want to is this. Take a pencil an hold vertical on a table top. Slide the Pencil on table top keepin it vertical, then when you get to edge of table top, pencil drops down while still being vertial (while still moving in a linear motion) and comes back to complete the circle (or arc). Does this make sense? In essense I am designing the part the way a Ball Endmill would actually cut the mold.
  12. Attached is an image of what what we are trying to accomplish. Is there a way to sweep a cross-section along a 3D curve and have the cross-section stay perpendicular to a specified point in the scene or another part throughout the entire sweep path? This is VITAL in the plastic design industry. Currently, the cross-section wants to orientate itself perpendicular to the 3D curve path itself. Any help is appreciated. If not, another one as an ER.Thanks sweepperp.bmp sweepperp2.bmp
  13. I wasn't sure what you meant, but below is an image that shows what I was looking to do and IT WORKED. Maybe my Computer didn't fell like working the other day. Go Figure. WRAPBEND.bmp
  14. I don't know id this is a bug or not. When I drag a "CUSTOM PROFILE" from catalog onto sheetmetal flat it will automatically "wrap" around the bend properly. When I edit cross-section, in my case a triangle it will not "wrap" around bend. I try to go to "MODIFY AFFECTED BEND" and that doesn't work. Any help is welcomed. Thanks
  15. IronCAD has available catalogs with misc items at their download site below: http://download.ironcad.com/ironcad/catalogs/
  16. If you mean 3D text, then you treat it the same way as an part. With handles, smartpaint etc...
  17. Check out movie to see how many users are still not aware of IronCAD/Inovates SmartSnap Functionality in more detail. IC07A_Intell_SmartSnap.zip
  18. I have the same problem with the 3D curve. I believe this is a bug in 6.0 because it worked fine in 5.2
  19. One thing I have noticed in these "un-biased" articles is that you should take them witha grain of salt. I have seen and caught many errors in them . I don't know if its just as simple as not knowing of something more sinister. So, that being said. In that above list IronCAD should have topped many of the catagories. Just my paranoid 2 cents.
  20. I know That Unigraphics and Solid Edge even though are part of the same company share data between them by using the Parasolid format and are able to maintain associativity. This should work for IronCAD as well I would assume.
  21. This happens to me usually when I have a threaded hole that was partially cutting onto this surface. The "thread" decal image then sees the entire surface as a thread. Since the "thread" is really only a decal and not true thread is will just apply the decal to entire surface. How we rectify this is simply grad the color onto the part, then got to the holes "ADD-ON" properties and simply click ok without changing anything which reapplies the thread decal only to the hole. There may be better ways to do this, that I'm not aware of, but hope this helps.
  22. Hi Cary, Thanks, I understand what its supposed to do now. I though is was something to do with the broken line geometry (linetype, width etc...) It doesn't work and I can't remember this ever working BUT in all honesty its not something I don't see needing in the future. I tried to think of a reason when someone would use it, ..............................................nope, sorry can't think of one. thanks Tom
  23. While creating a broken view, what does the BREAK WIDTH actually do? signed....baffled
  24. Kudos to the IronDudes!! just downloaded the new drivers for my IronCAD/Spaceball Marriage. It's awesome, Its good to blow the dust of my spaceball and make my IronCAD the ultimate tool. Thanks Guys...keep up the good work Tom
