  1. I for one would love to have native SW file read. I work with another engineer that uses SolidWorks, and it would be a great thing to have. I can't imagine people not being interested in having this ability. Mike
  2. Yes, Thanks Cary. It is important to have it ask for the maintain or break link. Real important...... Mike
  3. Anytime I want to work with linked files, I also do as Steve said, and save each part out from within the assembly. Make sure the part in the assembly is highlighted in blue, pick "Save As Part/Assembly from the "File" menu, ( or shortcut icon ), and make sure the box is checked for it to "Link part to current scene" in the pop-up dialog box. Now when you make changes to the part in the assembly, or the external part file itself, the model will update the assembly/part, depending on which file you are modifying. Make the drawing from the stand alone part, and you are set. It will update the drawing also. Another option if the Scene is not too big, is to make a "configuration" view in the main scene, for each part in the assembly, and make all the drawings from the same scene using the configurations for each part/drawing. This way there are no linked files to worry about, but if the model is large, it can be pretty slow. Mike
  4. Doug, If you are only having the problem when you print, do you have the " Use zero-width line " box checked in printing window? Mike
  5. Well, I uninstalled the SpacePilot driver, reinstalled again but did a "run as administrator" right click to it on the second install, and now I am able to use the SpacePilot with Windows 7, 64bit OS, XG64. All seems to be working now. Did the same thing with my mouse driver and it also seems to be working. I did have it stop working when I shut down IC and restarted it, but then did a "run as administrator" to the mouse control panel, told it to apply the already set configuration, and it started working again. Something is not quite right still, but for now it is working. Mike
  6. Yup, thanks Tom. Figured that may be the cause. I was so happy to be moving up to the 64bit version, I did not spend any time looking into what OS was supported for my pointing devices. I'm here in Microsoft country, and still get mad at how much of a pain it always is to change to a "new and better" operating system. What a joy..... Mike
  7. Forgot to say I am running Windows 7 too. I suspect this might have something to do with it, since my programmed mouse buttons don't work either. Mike
  8. I just got my new box up and running with XG64, and I can't seem to get any of my programmed keys to work on the SpacePilot. It was working fine on all other versions including the XG32, so is there something I am missing? I can't get it to recognize my programmed mouse buttons either. I updated all drivers for the mouse and SpacePilot, but no luck in them working. What am I missing?? Is there a driver from IC that I need to load? Let me know. Thanks Mike
  9. I am using XG32, soon to be running the 64bit version, but now, when I am using Proactive BOM, it seems to be a little "rough", for lack of a better word. As an example, when I am trying to make an indented list, I am unable to go to a blank line in the BOM, right click, and use the "Select the part" option. When I do that, it just does nothing. It does not go to the part in the tree, and it gives no sort of error. Not very useful. The last version that worked with IronPro, was V10. V11 did not work at all, and that was a real inconvenience. It also seems rough when just picking different assemblies to do an indented list, it makes you select it at least twice before it switches the screen output. I love this application when it runs, and I can't believe that I am the only one missing it. I would like to know the status of this. Once again, I am up against a Solidworks application, and if these little things keep getting in the way, they are going to make me switch over, and I don't want that at all. A little insight here would be great. Thanks guys. Side note, does anyone else notice that it is harder to pick points and things when selecting them? When I do mate and align, and moves with the Triball, it just seems to be not as smooth. Just curious... Mike
  10. Just wanted to get the latest on IC and Windows 7. I'm in the process of getting a new 64bit laptop, and want to make sure it will work with Win 7. I don't want anything to do with Vista, and XP is getting old, but has done the job well. I would like to jump to the newest Windows system if things will work. I know Kevin has been running on Win 7 for awhile, so is it still woking Ok for you? Thanks Mike
  11. Yup, count me in for wanting that also. At least let there be a default setting that you can change if you want, but most often I don't see this needing to change very often. Mike
  12. One thing I would like to throw into the mix is to see the triball as a functional tool in the 2D arena. It would be great to use all the functions of the triball in the 2D mode. Have it locked to the 2D plane, but functional in all other ways such as copy, mirror, rotate, etc. I think this has been brought up before, but I am always hoping this would be implemented into the 2D drawing function. Any thoughts? Mike
  13. Yup, I should have been more clear on that one. If you have a larger model, dimensionally, and you try to get in close to say a small screw on it, you will notice the problem. It does seem to be a screen ratio problem. Mike
  14. On the subject of the spaceball.....It has always been a problem when zooming close into something, that it does not move in a fine enough increment, or speed, to be very useful. It gets real jerky when zoomed into something small. I have been using the spaceball for many many years, and it has always done this. I have asked for this to be looked at, but never got any response to the request. It still is the best thing in the world to use, but I am hoping that this problem gets looked at and a solution is found, as I know this is not a problem with other CAD systems. By the way, I use both a spacepilot, and the spacetraveler. Anyone else have this issue???I assume everyone that uses one has this issue, but you never know. Mike
  15. I also vote not to lose any data when a part is unlinked. An example I run up against is if I have an electrical connection, and I have a series of RED wires, I will make all the connections linking them, and then maybe I want to turn half of them BLACK, I just unlink after I find out what color goes where, and at that point, I don't want to have to type in every piece of data, when usually the part number will only change by a digit or so. It just saves a lot of typing. I would also love to have the option to separate one group of linked parts into two groups of linked parts. Being able to split an existing batch of linked parts and to be able to change a part number or description and have it effect only those I choose, would be very useful. Anyone else have this desire? Mike
